David Arquette Admits To Drinking Beer Since Age 4
David Arquette is fresh out of rehab, following his separation from wife Courtney Cox and has told Oprah how he has battled alcoholism and substance abuse his whole life, starting with his first beer aged four.
“I had my first drink of beer, I must have been four years old,” Arquette told Oprah. “I was down in the basement with my dad, and beer was there, and I just grabbed it and drank it, and I remember that, it’s one of my earliest memories.”
He says it wasn’t long until he was drinking regularly.
“I seriously started drinking probably when I was about twelve. Kids are doing a lot of stuff very early. I stole pot from my dad when I was eight years old.”
He admits his lifestyle has always been wild – in fact he told an interviewer in December that his nickname is ‘David Good Times’ – until an intervention by his sister Patricia Arquette and estranged wife Courtney forced him to rethink his priorities. He spent almost one month in rehab finishing up at the end of January.
So what is the future between him and Courtney?
“Everything’s cool,” he said recently. “I love my wife, she loves me. We care about each other. We’re in different places right now so we’re figuring out what’s next. We’ll see what happens.”
