Demi Moore And Ashton Kutcher Start Master Cleanse
Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are the latest celebrities to try the dangerously-unhealthy Master Cleanse diet.
Ashton already admits he’s struggling, tweeting that 9 hours in and he’s craving a steak and beer.
Demi is faring a little better, tweeting: “2nd day of master cleanse and off to hike with hubby and the dogs. 2nd day better than the 1st! (sic).”
The Master Cleanse takes at least 10 days and is a drink mix of freshly squeezed lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and water. You must try six to 12 glasses a day with each glass containing about 110 calories in sugar carbohydrates.
Dieters must start the day by drinking 1 litre of salt water and finish the day with a cup of herbal laxative tea, resulting in many bowel movements throughout the day.
After the 10 days, you must come off the diet slowly, moving over to solid food gradually over a few days, preferably eating raw vegetables to start.
The Master Cleanse is dangerously unhealthy, containing no protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals, and about two-thirds less of the calories required a day for a healthy body and mind.
However Demi insists they are not doing it to lose weight. “This is about health!!!” she tweeted.
When one of Demi’s followers tweeted about the miserable side-effects when her own husband tried out the plan, the ‘Ghost’ star replied: “That’s Y we R doing it 2gether! (sic).”
Beyonce and Gwyneth Paltrow have previously done the diet and raved about the quick slimming results.
What do you think? Should celebrities be careful talking about these kinds of diets?
