It’s official – Shane Warne and Elizabeth Hurley are getting married
The Australian cricketeer popped the question to Hurley on Saturday during a Dunhill golf tournament in St Andrews, Scotland, and the love-struck pair took to Twitter – where else? – to share their news with the world.
The couple posted identical tweets on Saturday: “Thanks for all your congratulations. Here’s a pic of us about to go to Dunhill dinner in St Andrews.”
While reports claimed that Warne, 42, had popped the question to a stunned Hurley, 45, during a gala dinner at the exclusive Old Course Hotel, he insists it was much more personal.
“I didn’t propose in front of 200 people at dinner,” he wrote on Twitter the following day. “It was done privately and was very romantic – if I say so myself. Ps left knee is sore !!!”
A rep for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship confirmed the engagement: “Shane Warne has confirmed his engagement to actress Elizabeth Hurley after proposing at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.”
Hurley, whose divorce from textiles businessman Arun Nayar was finalised in June, has since been sporting a huge sapphire and diamond sparkler on her ring finger.
There’s no word yet on when the pair will marry but judging by the speed of their relationship – they met in July last year – we’re betting it won’t be long till they walk down the aisle.
