Oscars Red Carpet Predictions: What They Might Wear

The Academy Awards, mostly known as “Oscars”,  is the most watched award show on the planet getting an unbelievable amount of 43 million viewers last year. So it’s no surprise that the who-is-who of Hollywood are putting in a lot of effort to look fabulous on the Oscar’s red carpet. Not only will the celebs be watched on TVs worldwide, but their photos will be in thousands of newspapers, magazines, and shamelessly scrutinising blogs the next day.

RELATED: Oscar’s Worst Red Carpet Dresses

The biggest pressure to look perfect is without a doubt felt by the contenders for ‘best actress in a leading role’, so we can only imagine that this year’s nominees Reese Witherspoon, Julianne Moore, Marion Cotillard, Felicity Jones, and Rosamund Pike are having a hard time deciding on a dress for the 22nd of February, the day of the event.

With Haute Couture Fashion Week having just finished and designers most definitely begging the actresses to wear their creations, the options are endless, so we put ourselves in the (expensive) shoes of Reese, Julianne, Marion, Felicity, and Rosamund and made the following predictions for their Oscar outfits:

Reese loves to channel old Hollywood glamour while showing a bit of skin, so this sparkly Zuhair Murad creation might be her choice for the big night.

Julianne Moore often surprises on the red carpet, but always stays elegant. We would love to see her in this dark blue Armani Privée gown.

As the face of Dior, it is very likely Marion Cotillard will opt for a dress from Christian Dior’s latest collection and this pink frock would look amazing on her.

Felicity Jones has had a lot of fun experimenting with different styles on the red carpet this year, so we think she might opt for a showstopper, like this slightly sheer Elie Saab gown.

Lastly, we predict that Rosamund Pike will show of her stunning post-baby body in a sexy Versace dress.

The Most Shocking Red Carpet Dresses

I always look forward to the award season and the fashion that comes with it – most celebrities choose tasteful attire, but there are always a few questionable outfit choices that turn heads for all the wrong reasons. So here we look back at some of the most shocking dresses (or costumes) to ever grace the red carpet.

Lady Gaga is well known for stepping our in some shocking attire but this meat dress that she wore to the 2010 MTV Music Awards really took the cake. Made from raw meat the dress was meant to be in protest of gay soldiers who had been discharged of service. She said about the dress “Dead meat is dead meat and anyone that’s willing to risk their life and die for their country is the same. You’re not gay and dead, straight and dead. You are dead.”

The Most Shocking Red Carpet Dresses

Nicki Minaj is another celebrity who loves to make us gasp when she steps into the limelight and this little red riding hood inspired dress was no exception. At the 2012 Grammy Awards she was slammed for this dress for unsuccessfully trying to compete with the crazy style of Lady Gaga.

The Most Shocking Red Carpet Dresses

Sasha Gradiva is a Russian singer and wore this bizarre terminator-style ensemble to the 2012 Grammy Awards. On her official website she stated that she loves fashion that makes her stand out from the crowd and this dress teamed with the odd fake gun accessory definitely had the desired effect.

The Most Shocking Red Carpet Dresses

Baring all and leaving nothing to the imagination, Rihanna set tongues wagging at the 2014 CFDA Awards, there to accept her CFDA Fashion Icon award. She was heard telling reporters that “you will never be stylish if you don’t take risks.” I agree with her statement, but disagree with that dress!

The Most Shocking Red Carpet Dresses

Former Playboy model Tess Smith left us all asking one question when she stepped out on the 2005 Emmy Awards red carpet – WHY? All it would have taken was one gust of wind and the crowd might have seen more than they bargained for. Tess Smith took the phrase less is more way too literally on this occasion.

The Most Shocking Red Carpet Dresses

Stepping back in time to 1999, Lil Kim shocked many at the MTV Video Music Awards in this purple mermaid-inspired jumpsuit. Many years later in 2013 controversial Miley Cyrus recreated the look for Halloween and set the media into a frenzy once again.  I can’t really decide who wore it better because it’s just so… wrong.

The Most Shocking Red Carpet Dresses

When Amber Rose stepped out in this skimpy dress (if you can call it a dress) at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards she certainly turned heads. Wearing a Laura Dewitt design she didn’t leave much to the imagination in this sparkly, bejewelled number.

Here are our favourite Independent Spirit Awards celebrity fashion.

Julie Delpy is simply stunning in this belted Kelly green gown – we hope she wins for Best Adapted Screenplay for Before Midnight at the Oscars!

We love Reese Witherspoon in this Giambattista Valli Couture top and skirt. And we really want those Louboutins!

Cate Blanchett is the queen of the red carpet in this unique Roksanda Ilincic dress. We love that she hasn’t worn a conventional gown all awards season!

Rosario Dawson is pure elegance in her nude and black Narciso Rodriguez dress.

Kristen Bell is cute and chic in her royal blue Reem Acra dress with lace detailing and sky-high Louboutin heels.

BAFTAs Best Red Carpet Dresses

With just over a week away from the Oscars, the BAFTAs wowed with some serious red carpet dresses. Here are our favourite from Lupita to Cate.

Lupita Nyong’o was the star of the night in this strapless Kelly green Christian Dior Couture gown. We can’t wait to see what she’ll wear to the Oscars!

Gillian Andreson is stunning as always in vintage blue Balmain.

Not technically red carpet dresses, but how much do you love that Angelina and Brad went for his ‘n’ hers tuxedos – she, bow untied in Saint Laurent and patent heels, him, bow tied with patent lace-up flats?

Cate Blanchett wowed in another winning red carpet dress, this time in a short-sleeve Alexander McQueen gown.

Dame Helen Mirren always blows us away, here in an embellished gown with sheer sleeves and tulle skirt.

Also at the American Songbook event, Gwyneth Paltrow rocked a sparkly Saint Laurent black mini dress and long, beachy waves.

Front pockets! Jennifer Connnelly is simply lovely in her chic Chanel LBD at the Aloft premiere in Berlin.

Freida Pinto is gorgeous in purple printed dress with peekaboo midriff at the Michael Kors show at New York Fashion Week.

Also at the Michael Kors show, Blake Lively blows us away in navy and nude, updating a classic dress and jacket combination with a twist belt and layered necklaces.

Petra Nemcova looked fabulous at the Badgley Mischka show at NYFW in a feminine white dress paired with black knee high boots.

This Week’s Best Red Carpet Dresses

Plenty of amazing red carpet dresses this week in the lead-up to New York Fashion Week and the Oscars – and Cate Blanchett continues to dominate the best celebrity fashion with not one but two incredible looks.

Gwyneth Paltrow sparkled in a glam 70’s-inspired purple gown at the Goldene Kamera Awards in Berlin.

Keri Russell was the epitome of casual-chic at the Writers Guild Awards pairing an Isabel Marant tee with a peekaboo black bra, Givenchy skirt and Giuseppe Zannoti shoes.

Cate Blanchett was luminous in Maison Martin Margiela at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, where she picked up yet another award for her role in Blue Jasmine, taking home the 2014 Outstanding Performer of the Year Award.

…and yet again at the NYC premiere of her latest film Monuments Men in Proenza Schouler. Love that side bun.

The fashion set were out at the amfAR Benefit Gala in NYC ahead of Fashion Week, with supermodel Karolina Kurkova  a showstopper in this elegant black cutout dress with thigh-high split.

The Week’s Best Red Carpet Dresses

Forget floor-length, this week’s celebrity style is all about chic short dresses, with everyone from Jessica Alba to Reese Witherspoon all showing off some leg. Here’s our pick of the best red carpet dresses.

Jessica Alba is sweet as pie at the Hollywood Stands Up to Cancer Event in Hollywood in this white broderie anglaise Ralph Lauren dress, but vamps it up with a slick of dark plum lips.

Fellow guest Drew Barrymore is adorable as always in this Giuletta dress with J Crew heels. High street shoes – love it!

Reese Witherspoon usually plays it safe but showed us some serious cleavage in her tangerine Roland Mouret dress while co-hosting the event with hubbie Jim Toth. Love the pewter Jimmy Choo heels.

OK, it’s not technically a dress, but few women can pull off a red carpet tuxedo like Anne Hathaway (hers is by Viktor & Rolf).

Cameron Diaz rugged up against the brutal cold in New York for the opening of the flagship Tag Heuer store in an elegant black and white coat with opaque tights and black heels.

Jennifer Connelley rocked a Dolce & Gabbana lace LBD for her appearance on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, paired with a tousled bob and classic red lipstick.

Best Grammys Red Carpet Dresses

It was a sea of glitter at the Grammys 2014, with everyone from Taylor Swift to Amy Kendrick wearing gorgeous shades of gold and platinum. But can we just stop and talk about how Beyonce stole the show in her dress? Here are our best Grammys red carpet dresses.

Even before Beyonce got on stage for that performance of Drunk in Love with hubbie Jay Z, she stunned everyone in her white Michael Costello gown complete with sexy lace and plunging back.

Amy Kendrick presented an award with Pharrell wearing an Azzaro dress that was just-the-right-side of evealing.

British songstress Rita Ora bucked the long red carpet dresses trend and chose a knee-length green-gold Lanvin dress.

Taylor Swift shone in a sparkly Gucci dress that was one of our favourite celebrity style looks of the night.

Australian supermodel Nicole Trufino went for a 70’s vibe with her sexy sparkling platinum gown with bell sleeves and pleated skirt to support her boyfriend, Texan musician Gary Clark Jr.

Ciara showed off her baby bump in a figure-hugging custom-made Pucci gow.

John Legend’s wife Christine Teigen glowed in head-to-toe gold, from her sexy gold dress to her golden hair and bronzed skin.

This Week’s Best Celebrity Style

Plenty of gorgeous red carpet dresses this week, from Naomi Campbell in gold to Mindy Kaling in an oh-so-chic little lack dress. Enjoy the week’s best celebrity style.

Vanessa Hudgens is stunning in Gatsby-inspired Monique Lhuillier dress at the screening of her latest film Gimme Shelter at NYC’s Museum of Modern Art.

Naomi Campbell looked regal in a statuesque Michael Kors gown at the UK National Television Awards in London.

At the 2014 Elle’s Women in Television Celebration in West Hollywood, Mindy Kaling rocked a Badgley Mischka LBD. That fuchsia lipstick is just the right pop of colour to elevate this look from classic-but-safe to super stylish.

Emily Rossum was pretty in pale peach and white in this pleated J Mendel dress.

Best Producers Guild Awards Red Carpet Dresses

Plenty of amazing red carpet dresses at the 25th Producers Guild Awards in LA, from Lupita Nyong’o to Claire Danes.

And congrats to 12 Years a Slave and Gravity who both won best film, a first ever tie!

Helen Mirren has the best celebrity style of the night in her glittering Elie Saab gown.

We’re kind of obsessed with how gorgeous Gillian Anderson is. The elegant grey lace dress is one thing, but just look at that hair and makeup!

Lupita Nyong’o is amazing as always in her salmon-hued Stella McMartney dress and shoes.

Claire Danes is adorable in a chic Dior dress and gold Christian Louboutin heels.

We couldn’t help but include this photo of 12 Years a Slave stars  Brad Pitt and Chiwetel Ejiofor, because, hey, this is how all men should rock the red carpet. And hello, Brad Pitt’s new hair cut? Only Brad could get away with it!

The Best SAG Awards Red Carpet Dresses

So much celebrity fashion inspiration at the SAG Awards 2014. Sure, American Hustle may have won big, but the best red carpet dresses were the real winners of the night.

Lupita Nyong’o continues her fashion winning streak in electric blue Gucci.

Jennifer Lawrence didn’t just blow us away in this glimmering Dior column dress, but she also coined the term “armpit vaginas”.

Isla Fisher is the epitome of old Hollywood style in her stunning Oscar de la Renta and bombshell hair.

Love that Kerry Washington wore a Prada skirt and crop top showing off her pregnant belly.

Claire Danes went for dark and sexy in this mesh and holographic sequin Vionnet dress.

Mindy Kaling is so elegant in this sexy navy David Meister gown. Love the gold accessories.

Most of us could not get away with pairing a pale pink silk gown (here, by Givenchy) against pale skin. Except we’re not Cate Blanchett, and she can get away with pretty much anything.

Oprah looks stunning in a off-the-shoulder Badgley Mischka dress with broach detail (and wasn’t she fantastic in The Butler?).

Best Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Red Carpet Dresses

Another day, another awards show, but who cares when there are so many gorgeous red carpet dresses? We break down our favourite celebrity style at today’s 2014 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards.

Love Lupita Nyong’o versatile style so much. From prints to this elegantly minimal Calvin Klein Collection gown and clutch, Lupita is our favourite celebrity fashion star right now.

Cate Blanchett is beautiful is darkest green Lanvin cinched together with a wide black belt.

The belt is a little unnecessary, but Sandra Bullock looks gorgeous in the wine red ruffled Lanvin dress.

It’s nice to see Camila Alves out of her usual red carpet black. She’s simply stunning in a drapey red Paule Ka dress with strappy Oscar Tiye heels.

Jessica Chastain glows in a Nina Ricci dress is such an unusual yet beautiful shade of mint green.

What a pretty shade of hot pink on Amy Adams’ Roland Mouret dress, with contrasting black detailing.

Worst Golden Globes Red Carpet Dresses

So many amazing red carpet dresses at the Golden Globes 2014…and yet, so many shockers, and surprisingly, from some of our favourite celebrities. Let’s take a look at some of the fashion disasters…

What just happened? Who styled this? You’ve got the start of a business-casual, boyfriend shirt-inspired outfit by Dolce & Gabbana. Then, her stylist added a feminine sparkly diamante belt, which does nothing to accentuate her waist. Finally, a 60’s beehive to complete the discombobulated look.

Zoe Saldana is one of the hottest actresses right now, so I guess she was going for edgy when she chose to wear this Prabal Gurung 80’s prom dress. She’s not the only one who had a Prabal Gurung disaster tonight…

Sandra Bullock has been scoring a lot of fashion wins lately, so it’s sad she chose this Prabal Gurung satin mullet dress. The colour combination doesn’t work, and the low cut doesn’t flatter either. And those pointy boobs remind us of Anne Hathaway’s 2014 pink Oscars dress. Not good.

Mila Kunis has worn some of the prettiest red carpet dresses, yet even she doesn’t love this Liberace-inspired look.

Uma Thurman seems to have lost her red carpet mojo. The black top and skirt don’t match, instead creating a jarring contrast. She looks severe and unsexy, which is unheard of for Uma.

We wanted to love anything that Jennifer Lawrence chose to wear to the Golden Globes. And from the thighs up, we get it. It’s Dior, it’s high fashion, but that white tulle skirt just looks cheap, like the Spotlight end of year offcuts. Also not a fan of the mismatched jewellery.

We can’t wait for season 2 of House of Cards, but Kate Mara’s Golden Globes J Mendel gown is hurting our eyes tonight. The bleached locks, the in-your-face boobs, the weird drape…so many better choices for this pretty young thing.

Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss sadly looks like she just woke up an hour before the Golden Globes. Her hair looks messy and her handkerchief tail J Mendel dress doesn’t flatter.

Hayden Panettiere debuted a new short haircut, sleeking it back – but it just looks like covering up a bad hair day. And we don’t like the dress either – remember when above-knee slits were big in the early 90’s? Yep, this looks feels just as outdated.

We’ve seen Emma Thompson rock the pre-Golden Globes parties in style, but sadly, she showed up wearing a rock-hard gold bodice that looks like it belongs on the set of 300, finished in a boring black skirt.

This Week’s Best Celebrity Red Carpet Dresses

Award season is definitely here with some serious red carpet dresses seen on our favourite celebrities this week, from Jessica Alba glowing in white to Jessica Chastain and Sandra Bullock sparkling in bright colours. It might be snowing in the U.S. but these celebrity dresses are giving us plenty of inspiration for summer!

Girls’ star Allison Williams beamed in a pale blue satin Dior mini dress at the Girls Season 3 premiere in New York earlier this week. Are you looking forward to the new season?

Jessica Alba looking as adorable as ever in a white Jason Wu zip-up dress with Casadei heels at the People’s Choice Awards last night.

And proving it’ll be all white on the night, Jessica Hudson rocked her unbelievable body in another stunning white dress paired with Manolo Blahnik heels, picking up the Favourite Humanitarian Award.

12 Years a Slave actress Lupita Nyong’o glowed in shimmery Elie Saab at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala (you have to see this movie!).

Also at the Festival, Julia Roberts in a carefree Gucci leopard print swing dress.

Sandra Bullock brightened up the Festival in a vibrant pink and orange Alex Perry dress with lace detail, offset with nude Brian Atwood heels.

Camila Alves outshone hubbie Matthew McConaughey in her all-out sexy black Mikael D gown with thigh high split.

At the National Board Of Review Gala, Jessica Chastain went for a gorgeous shade of yellow in her pretty Oscar de la Renta dress, contrasted beautifully with pointy blue satin heels.

And proving French women will always look chic, Blue is the Warmest Colour actress Lea Seydoux donned jewel-toned Prada and a berry pout.

This Week’s Best Dressed Celebrity Style

From Amy Adams in picture-perfect plum to Jennifer Lawrence rocking cutting-edge Dior couture, this week’s red carpet has some serious best dressed contenders…

We started the week with The Governors Awards in Hollywood, and boy did it draw some incredible celebrity red carpet dresses.

Angelina Jolie was as beautiful as ever in her dramatic sparkly black Atelier Versace gown, taking home the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.

We’re smitten with Jennifer Garner’s chic and feminine LBD by Dolce & Gabbana. Isn’t that neckline pretty?

Expect to see a lot more purple on the red carpet after Amy Adams’ strapless plum Vivienne Westwood gown.

But Raquel Welch was the real head-turner in her bombastic red figure-hugging dress. Can you believe she’s 73?

It was a busy week for the Hunger Games crew, continuing their whirlwind promotional world tour for the Catching Fire sequel, and Jennifer Lawrence stunned in this unique Dior creation. Perfect for the Paris premiere.

Another city, another Dior Haute Couture gown. We love the prom-inspired neckline and sexy billowing skirt worn over a black basque pulled together with a thick belt.

Meanwhile co-star Elizabeth Banks was radiant in this sculptured hot orange gown with sparkly embellishments at the L.A. premiere.

And if there’s any doubt purple is going to be a big fashion trend, here’s Girls’ star Allison Williams in a royal purple off-the-shoulder L’Wren Scott dress at the CNN Heroes: An All Star Tribute evening in NYC.

Who is your celebrity style all-star this week?

This Week’s Best Red Carpet Dresses

From Gisele Bundchen in Atelier Versace, to Salma Hayek in Gucci, here are this week’s best celebrity red carpet dresses.

Gisele Bundchen showed off her endless legs in a stunning navy blue dress by Atelier Versace at Wall Street Journal Magazine’s Innovator Of The Year Awards (she’s also on the cover of their November issue along with Daft Punk). And what do you think of those shoes!

Also at the Innovator Of The Year Awards were fellow supermodels Karlie Kloss

…and Aussie supermodel Jessica Hart in yet more navy.

Natalie Portman bucked the trend for red carpet dresses by rocking pants and a sparkly top by Dior to the NYC premiere of Thor.

Just hours later, Natalie changed into a chic navy and white dress for The Late Show With David Letterman, pairing the dress with classic black satin slingbacks.

Taylor Swift was the lady in red at last night’s Country Music Awards in Nashville. The 23-year-old singer took home three awards wearing a floor-length Elie Saab ball gown.

Elizabeth Olsen attended the Guggenheim International Gala sponsored by Dior in a cute black dress adorned with yellow and black petals on the bustline.

On Saturday Drew Barrymore gave us a sneak peak of her pregnancy at the LAMCA Art + Film Gala in L.A. in this adorable flowing printed dress.

She was joined by Kate Hudson who looked statuesque in a gold Gucci gown with sexy cut-outs.

And can you believe Salma Hayek is 47? She stole the red carpet alongside Kate in this bombshell nude Gucci gown.

Best Dressed At Critics’ Choice TV Awards

From Diane Kruger to lady in red Emmy Rossum, Old Hollywood glamour was the theme on the Critics’ Choice TV Awards red carpet last night – which celebrity made your best dressed list?

Diane Kruger

Diane Kruger always looks amazing on the red carpet, and she made no exception last night, pairing a corseted black lace gown with classic red lips.

Emmy Rossum

The adorable Shameless star stunned as the lady in red on the red carpet in a sparkly art deco-inspired gown. Usually wearing red lips with red clothing can be too much, but Emmy pulls it off with aplomb.

Elizabeth Moss

The Mad Men star is cute as a button in this fuchsia mini and platinum locks.

Malin Akerman

No wonder Malin is rocking this teeny black mini dress – she just gave birth in April and she has many expensive personal training sessions (and multiple nannies) to thank for getting her back in shape so quickly!

Maria Menounos

No accessories needed with this stunning bejewelled peacock blue gown.

Cat Deeley

When you’re a statuesque blonde like Cat, the natural choice for ruling the red carpet is a floor-length golden gown.

Which celebrity is your best dressed from the Critics’ Choice TV Awards 2013?

Best Dressed At Glamour Women Of The Year Awards

Glamour UK celebrated its 10th Women of the Year awards with everyone from Kylie to Naomi hitting up the red carpet in style. Plus which fashionista took the Woman of the Decade gong?

Kylie Minogue

Kylie looked tres chic in this feminine peach Moschino halterneck dress and gold heels.

Victoria Beckham

Victoria picked up the Woman of the Decade gong wearing a sleek Maison Martin Margiela jumpsuit – but her best accessory was her date for the night, son Brooklyn. Can you believe he’s 14 now? So handsome!

Naomi Campbell

Naomi just gets better and better, showing off those mile-high legs in an Alexander McQueen LBD with orante gold beading.

Cara Delevingne

When you’re young and cute and the most in-demand supermodel in the world right now, why wouldn’t you buck the designer red carpet trend, and instead wear a fun rock ‘n’ tshirt, tuxedo pants and bright shoes?

Erin O’Connor

90’s waif supermodel Erin O’Conner shows off her long and lean body in a highly tailored strapless black gown, accessorised with nothing more than two necklaces.

Which celebrity is your best dressed at the Glamour Women of the Year awards?

Best Dressed At The CFDA Fashion Awards 2013

From Miranda Kerr to Jessica Chastain, there was plenty of red carpet inspiration at tonight’s CFDA Fashion Awards 2013 in New York. Which celebrity made your best dressed list?

Miranda Kerr

Miranda would look good in anything, but we love that she combines that cute-as-a-button smile with a fun party dress by CFDA Award 2013 winners Proenza Schouler.

Sofia Vergara

Statuesque in emerald green with matching jewels, Sofia might be a one trick pony with all those figure hugging dresses – but with that killer body, who cares?

Jessica Chastain

With barely-there jewellery, Jessica Chastain is one of our favourite red carpet looks in this chic strapless Givenchy dress.

Rooney Mara

Always unique, Rooney looks amazing in this black lace Calvin Klein dress.

Kerry Washington

Not many can pull off yellow, but Kerry looks stunning in this yellow satin Jason Wu gown.

Nicole Ritchie

Reminiscent of the 90’s waif, this A-line silk dress by Marc Jacobs works on Nicole’s tiny frame. Remember, less is more.

Which celebrity made your best dressed list at the CFDA Awards 2013?

Best And Worst Dressed At The Met Gala Ball

Best And Worst Dressed At The Met Gala Ball

Serena Williams

I love Serena Williams but this feathered strapless gown by Oscar de la Renta with fascinator is simply awful!

Marchesa might be one of the hottest evening designers at the moment but this fishtail gown makes Fergie look like a scary bridezilla – run!

Christina Hendricks

She has such a pretty face and an incredible body, but the lady simply has no style. First, that hideous Oscars dress, now this muddy organza gown by Carolina Herrera. Fire her stylist!

Alicia Keys

Poor Alicia looks like an armadillo – not the best choice for such a high-fashion crowd.

Ashley Green

Now this is flawless evening wear. Ashley’s ethereal Donna Karan gown is the epitome of red carpet glamour.

Chanel Iman

Model Chanel is a modern day Audrey Hepburn in this adorable white Dolce & Gabbana lace shift.

Penelope Cruz

Absolutely stunning, Penelope always looks great in black and this Oscar de la Renta is perfect with her Latin looks.

Zoë Saldana

Not many could pull off a minimalist yellow Calvin Klein dress but Zoe was made for outfits like this.

Gisele Bündchen

Talk about va-va-voom! Gisele fills out this show-stopping fire engine red Alexander McQueen dress like no other.

Golden Globes Red Carpet – The Best

Golden Globes Red Carpet

Anne Hathaway

Now this is unique. Pink-gold sequins adorn this skin-tight gown with long sleeves and low back. Matches her rosy complexion beautifully. Many are saying this could be the look of the red carpet.

Christina Hendricks

You’ve got it, flaunt it. Christina goes for the red carpet trifecta: red dress, red hair, red lips. Only she could pull it off.

Nicole Kidman

It’s simple and restrained, but I actually like it. I think the hair should have been pulled up for an extra hit of red carpet glamour.

Geoffrey Rush

I hope he wins! Geoffrey’s bowler hat and Woody Allen-esque glasses add a bit of fun and funky to the standard penguin suit.

Scarlett Johansson

Thumbs up for this ethereal, light-as-air nude frock, paired with rosy lips and elegant accessories. Nice to see sleeves make an appearance too.

Natalie Portman

Pretty in pink in Viktor and Rolf, pregnant Natalie blooms in this strapless pink gown with rose detail.

Jake Gyllenhaal

Oh, yes please! How well does Jake pull off the debonair red carpet look? The tux, the smoulder…move over George Clooney!

Kyra Sedgewick

Not many people can get away with this vibrant saffron colour – most famously worn beautifully by Michelle Williams a few years ago. But Kyra pulls it off – I’m jealous!

Hailee Seinfeld

She’s only 14 and looks so poised and pretty! Hailee is amazing in True Grit and she’s amazing on the red carpet. Can’t wait to see her look evolve in coming years.

Lea Michelle

This is what an awards ceremony is all about. Flouncy, shiny, in an eye-catching colour – this salmon pink works really well against Lea’s pretty tan.

Eva Longoria

It’s a bit too black, but stops short of being depressing thanks to that plunging neckline and cinched in waist. Take that Tony Parker!

Golden Globes Red Carpet – The Shockers

Golden Globes Red Carpet – The Shockers

Halle Berry

Huh? Where did the dress go? It started off pure sex bomb with a fitted corset, and then just looks like the designer ran out of time, and stuck on a mini skirt and the last bit of black chiffon they could find.

Michelle Williams

I was really hoping to love Michelle’s choice tonight, but I hate it! Frills on the side add nothing to an otherwise frumpy beige summer dress with a boring flower print.

Catherine Zeta Jones

Did somebody lose their upholstery? This thick emerald green gown is making me hot and flustered and not in a good way – and that fabric looks like a cross between velvet and terry towelling.

Sophie Vergara

The colour is HOT but the ruching at the waist and bust is unnecessary, as is that black sash which breaks up an otherwise classic red carpet gown. Hair up would have showed off those spectacular earrings and her pretty face.

Julianne Moore

This is a first, Julianne always looks so beautiful but this colour is too clashing against her hair. Plus it’s creased at the waist – my pet peeve!

Angelina Jolie

Brad looks hot but this Kelly Green doesn’t really suit Angelina, which is a shame because she never wears colour. Plus she’s so thin – never pose side on Ange, it’s hard to see you. The hair is a bit lanky too, might be time for a snip?

Jackie Weaver

So proud of our Jackie being nominated for her role in Animal Kingdom. But let’s be honest, this is a bit ordinary. It’s the Golden Globes Jackie, vamp it up!

Helena Bonham Carter

This is a hard one to classify. On one hand, Helena sticks to what she loves – eccentric, kooky fashion. Plus she’s wearing mismatched shoes and that’s kind of cool! But at the same time, this is a just-got-out-of-bed shocker.

Jennifer Love Hewitt

I’ve never seen JLH look good, and now it’s really time to fire her stylist. What is with the sticking out bit at the bust? The thick belt makes her look big in the hips and that overly coiffed hair makes no sense.

Julia Stiles

I adore Julia Stiles and while her makeup is natural and gorgeous, black satin just drags her down, making her look like an unhappy opera singer. Her complexion and blonde locks are much better suited to fun colours, what a shame!

Wedding Dress Inspiration From The Red Carpet

Wedding Dress Inspiration From The Red Carpet

Lea Michelle

It’s classic, it’s elegant: Lea’s satin ivory dress by Jose Daran finishes in a slight fishtail and would suit many body shapes. Pearl studs and a slick of red lipstick completes the look.

Gemma Atherton

Some might find this Gucci column dress too simple, but it’s all in the details. A gentle gathering at the waist adds interest and the drape in the skirt makes legs go forever. Take a cue from Bond girl Gemma and tie your hair back without fuss, perfect for a beach wedding.

Eva Longoria

This is a red carpet – and show-stopping wedding dress – at its best. Trust Eva to wow in this frou-frou gown with billowing train. Top with a golden tan and go minimal on the jewellery, after all the dress, and your smile, will do the talking.

Taylor Swift

If your prefer your inspiration from the 1920’s and 30’s then sit up and pay attention to Taylor’s Ralph Lauren dress. It’s flapper without being a novelty dress. Utterly romantic, especially if paired with a soft waves and red lips.

Emma Watson

No one really expected Hermione, I mean, Emma, to step out looking so glam at the CFDA Awards in NY this year. But this one-shoulder Burberry gown with daring front split took everyone’s breath away, and will do the same at your wedding. Punk details like chunky rings and mismatched bracelets take the romance down a notch so you can match this look to your personality.

Marion Cotillard

Like Gemma’s, this is a fairly minimal strapless dress, this time by Christian Dior, but here’s another way to do it. Sequins and studs sparkle at the bust, then simply layer long necklaces to vamp up the look. Dark eyes and nails are a daring choice but if you can pull it off go for it!

Ashley Greene

Who says you need to follow tradition and wear a long gown? Ashley keeps it fresh with a just-below-the-knee shift, while nude peep toe heels give her length.

The Grecian look has always been popular for the walk down the aisle and Fergie enjoyed it walking down the red carpet at the premiere of the musical Nine. Love the twisted gold belt – your accessorises don’t have to come from jewellery alone – and if you’ve got long locks consider wearing them down and free-flowing.

Which red carpet look is your favourite for a wedding, or do you prefer more traditional bridal gown?
