The next time you’re struggling with a set of falsies, ditch the glue, put down the tweezers and get a pair of eyelash extensions instead. Unlike false lashes, they are resistant, last for 6-8 weeks, and if applied correctly – you won’t feel a thing. If you have anymore questions, refer to our guide below about eyelash extensions, and why you need to try them at least once.
What are eyelash extensions?
Three types of extensions (silk, synthetic and mink) are applied one-by-one over your own natural lashes with a semi-permanent glue. This glue is specially designed to avoid eye irritation, and won’t interfere with your daily skincare and makeup routine. There is also a very low chance of the glue damaging your natural lashes.
How long does it take?
Since eyelash extensions are applied individually, a full set can take as long as two hours to properly apply. But depending on your own natural lashes, this will determine whether you need a full or even half a set of lashes. It is always better to start with smaller set, and then build up as you go.
Will it irritate my eyes?
The special glue formula is designed to be used on even sensitive eyes, and does not contain harmful ingredients such as formaldehyde. The glue won’t get into your eyes either, so there is no need to worry about that extra irritation. Generally, lash extensions are a pain-free experience.
Can I use mascara?
Absolutely. Although, take special care when removing mascara, and remember not to rub your eyes. Take a cotton pad with makeup remover, then gently dab onto the eye until the makeup has been removed.
How often do I need to have them done?
Extensions generally last 6-8 weeks, but it can depend on your own natural eyelash cycle. Towards the 6 week mark, some lashes will shed, but this is normal and nothing to worry about.
How much do they cost?
$80-$250 depending on the extensions you choose.
