Find your Valentine online

January 14, 2004

Online dating has never been more popular, with thousands of singles around Australia logging on to dating sites. RSVP is Australia’s largest singles site with more than 335,000 members. Online dating is an easy and safe way to make new friends, find a date or even meet your perfect match. But how do you go about it?Here are RSVP’s tips on how to find a date or a mate online.1. Create a profile. Completing your profile allows you to let others know about yourself. The more you write the better the picture you give to others. RSVP provides areas of interests to fill out, plus there’s a section where you can write anything you feel like. Always be honest in your profile about who you are and what you’re looking for.2. Include a photo. RSVP members with photos attract up to ten times more responses than those without. There’s also an option to password-protect your profile so that only the people you choose to give your password to will see it. A good, clear head-and-shoulders shot of you looking your most normal and happy works best.

3. Complete your ideal partner profile. There’s even a section for you to complete that allows you to let others know what you’re looking for. It’s a good idea to fill this out so members can see if they match you, and helps to avoid being contacted by people who may not exactly be your idea of a perfect date.

4.Start slowly. Allow yourself time to get to know someone. The RSVP system helps to protect your anonymity online. Swap a few emails and photos, and progress to phone calls before arranging an ‘offline’ date. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and don’t give out your personal details until you feel comfortable to do so.

It’s free to search on RSVP, so why not begin there? Visit rsvp.com.au and see if there’s anyone you like. And remember, when you do join, there’s no joining fee.
