Desperate Housewives Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross and Nicollette Sheridan all wearing strapless gowns of various hues ? Teri elegant in a navy blue empire waist gown with a crystal band under the bustline by J. Mendel; Marcia stunning in emerald green Elie Saab gown with a ruched bodice and elaborate beading; and Nicolette pretty as a picture in a Giorgio Armani strapless dusty-rose satin gown with a fitted bodice, cascading tiered skirt and train. Also baring their shoulders were Jennifer Garner (who was also showing a pregnant glow in a black Badgley Mischka gown complete with a jewel on the bust) and Halle Berry who looked stunning in a simple draped purple gown. There was a variety of spectacular colour on the red carpet, including many in red and coral hues. The other two housewives, Eva Longoria and Felicity Huffman chose dresses in these colours ? Eva looked sultry in a coral gown with a jewelled neck and revealing keyhole opening while Felicity chose the more demure, old Hollywood style in a rouge satin bias-cut gown with a gentle cowl neck and thick straps adorned in crystals (see the SheSaid homepage). Mariska Hargitay of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit also looked gorgeous in an orange Carolina Herrera gown.

Hair & makeup
Boho, romantic hair styles are certainly still in, with most of the rich and famous choosing curly, messy updos or long, wavy hair. As for makeup, it seemed more was best with a lot of stars. Gone was the natural look and Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, Portia Di Rossi, Marcia Cross and Debra Messing all chose dark eyes and defined lips.

Worst dressed
The stylists seem to get it right on Sunday night as most of the stars looked gorgeous. Of course, it wouldn?t be a Hollywood party without at least a few blunders! Most noticeable was of course screenwriter Tess Smith who was wearing little more than a well placed sheet (not dissimilar to what she wore to the Emmys last year). Paula Abdul wore a plunging V-neck dress in a pale yellow colour which wasn?t flattering for her shape and Patricia Arquette wore a very tight fitting cream-coloured Badgley Mischka gown. The real issue was the over accentuated curls in her hair, which looked like the rollers had been left in.

Post show gossip
One of the big surprises was the Best Actress for a comedy series award which went to Desperate Housewives mum Felicity Huffman. “I feel amazed, elated and shocked,” the Wisteria Lane actress told reporters. Her co-stars were also surprised, hottie Jesse Metcalfe saying, “I don?t think anyone expected Felicity to win, but I think it?s appropriate she did. And she made one of the best speeches I?ve heard.” Some of her glory was taken away, however when she was refused entry into one of the lavish after-parties. Co-stars Teri Hatcher, Nicolette Sheridan, Eva Longoria and Marcia Cross were partying at a Hollywood soiree but Felicity and husband William H. Macy weren?t allowed to join them. She says, “We went to a party and I couldn’t get in. I was like, ‘But I have a statue!’ And they were like, ‘No, you can’t get in.? There were too many people and the fire marshall had closed it off, so all the other Housewives were up there partying and I was downstairs. Poor me with my statue! So then we went home… I just talked to my husband and went to sleep at around 1am.”

Missy Elliot was the performer of choice at the Roosevelt Hotel?s Tropicana Bar. Scrubs actor Zach Braff (who lost out to Monk star Tony Shalhoub for lead actor in a comedy series) refused to answer questions but wandered around with girlfriend Mandy Moore. Lost star John Holloway, who plays Sawyer on the series, was ecstatic, saying ?Woo! We had no idea we would win. I can?t get this freakin? smile off my face.” He admitted he was considering “giving up again” on finding work before Lost came along. Lost co-star Matthew Fox chose to visit HBO?s lavish Moroccan themed bash at the Pacific Design Center, where couscous and curried vegetables was served and waiters wore Moroccan-inspired white attire in the ice blue tent and temple-like display. People magazine and Entertainment Tonight combined their party at the Mondrian Hotel where the dance floor was apparently raging until the wee hours and all the celebs let their hair down.
