Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are usually for deeper and more serious stains caused from aging or various medicines. Veneers are thin shells made from porcelain or sometimes resin, which are bonded to the front of the original tooth. To make the veneers, a little amount of the tooth structure enamel is removed from the teeth to make room so the teeth will not look thick when the veneers are bonded to the teeth. It is a great procedure for people who also have crooked or worn teeth as the veneers are durable and do not stain easily. Depending on the complexity of the case, veneers usually cost between $1,000 and $1,500 per tooth. The life expectancy of a veneer is 10 years or more.

Porcelain Crowns
This treatment is recommended for those with damaged or decaying teeth. A significant amount of the tooth structure has to be removed to place a crown, however combined with the use of veneers or implants, the crown can match the other teeth perfectly. It is a long lasting effect that doesn?t stain or break easily and can help broaden and whiten a patient?s smile. Between $900 and $1,800 for a crown.

One way help prevent expensive cosmetic treatments in the future, is to look after your teeth now. You should:
– Brush your teeth twice daily
– Floss daily
– Rinse with an antiseptic mouthwash twice daily
– Visit your dentist every six months.

Flossing is probably the most inconvenient part of your oral health routine. It takes a long time, getting to the back of the mouth is difficult and the floss can be so tight around your fingers that it feels you?re going to loose all blood circulation. And although studies have found most people claim to floss at least four times a week, if this were true, there would be four times more floss sold in Australia than there actually is! Oral B have released a new product make flossing more convenient, so we will hopefully floss more often. It?s called the Hummingbird and is basically an electric flosser! The small battery operated flosser uses vibrations to loosen and remove plaque from in between the teeth and around the gums. There is also a pick attachment with a pleasant minty taste.
RRP $12.99 for the Hummingbird Starter Kit which includes the handle, 5 picks and 3 flossers.
