Scarlett Johansson might have an enviable body, but she’s revealed her diet and fitness secret to squeeze into the Black Widow catsuit for her latest role in The Avengers.

The 27-year-old had to change to a high vegetable diet to fit into the unforgiving outfit, for her role as Russian spy Natasha Romanoff and her alter-ego the Black Widow.

“It’s a real commitment to get back into the suit. There’s no room for self-doubt in Latex,” she joked.

“How come I get the rabbit food question?” she joked at the London press conference for the action film last week. “You’re training and doing all that stunt work so you eat a lot of green things.”

She also had to increase her fitness regime. “I think me, (Jeremy) Renner and Tom (Hiddleston) probably spent the most amount of time in the stunt gym, because we have these huge, intense choreographed sequences,” she admitted.

“I’m happy to do that. It’s great fun to do it. We all have our burden to bear, but certainly the stunts paid off in the end.”

But last night promoting the film in Rome, Johansson and her co-stars unwound in a family-run trattoria, tucking into antipasti, pasta and grilled beef.
