How To Get A Jungle Body This Summer

October 25, 2011

You’ve heard of Zumba, but there’s a new workout craze called The Jungle Body which combines dance, hip hop, boxing, pilates, disco and football training. Here’s creator Tara Franzinelli’s tips for getting a jungle body this summer!

One of our favourite sculpting moves is our “Potty Squat” where we stand legs two hand widths apart, toes pointing forward. Putting all the weight into your heels you slowly squat right down to the point you could be sitting on a potty. We then slowly stagger upward to the beat of the music. This squat will lift your butt, sculpt your quads and give you those sexy calves you’ve always wanted.

A sexy boxing move you can do is our “Skitz” move, because you go from angry to sexy! Stand wide apart with legs slightly bent. Imagine an ex-boyfriend or someone you really dislike and punch 4 times hard in front of you, followed by 2 sexy hip circles. Remember when you punch to twist your body with each jab to increase your force or “smack”. This move will burn calories, sculpt the arms and the hip circles work your abdominals.

The best way to clean up your diet is to Plan. Write down what you will eat for breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner for 7 days. So, If you have a Birthday Party on Saturday night, you can plan ahead by having an ultra low calorie breakfast and cut out morning tea so you can have those extra couple of cocktails that night. If you don’t have a Plan you fall into the trap of buying food suddenly from food courts, grabbing that morning muffin or missing out on lunch and pigging out at 3pm.

With all the exercise I do plus running the office during the day there was a point last year that I was sluggish, moody and I caught every cold imaginable. However, after many visits to doctors and naturopaths I found the cure; a mineral/protein shake. Combine 2 scoops of natural whey protein, 15ml vitamin B liquid, 1 teaspoon of coconut oil, 3/4 cup of frozen mixed berries and 1/2 cup of A2 milk. The protein provides energy and helps you repair so your body wakes up ready for the day, Vitamin B converts carbohydrates into energy so this liquid will boost you like no other, coconut oil has lots of benefits including assisting thyroid, weight loss and immunity. Lastly, berries are full of antioxidants and the milk keeps you full!

Carry a 2 litre bottle of water with you every day and whenever you feel hungry have a sip of water. Dehydration is easily mistaken for hunger so you might just grab a small fries when all your body really needed was a drink of water.
