I Tried A Pout-O-Matic. Here’s What Happened To My Lips.

One step closer to Kylie Jenner lips.

I’m all for enhancing my looks with the help of beauty gadgets and treatments, as long as they’re non-surgical. So when I heard about the Bliss Pout-O-Matic, a new lip-enhancing gadget, of course I had to try it, especially since lips have become the most important part of the face thanks to Kylie Jenner and her over-the-top pout.

The gadget promises to stimulate and exfoliate lips, buffing away flakiness and dryness using a head with massaging nubs that rotate 450 times per minute. In other words, a vibrator for your actual lips. (Not the other ones. We were all thinking it.)

Thankfully it resembles my electric toothbrush more than a sex toy, so there was no need to hide it or prepare an explanation for when my hubby saw it. Having said that, it sure does sound like a vibrator, and considering the proximity of my bathroom window to my neighbors’ kitchen, I couldn’t help but picture the shocked look on their faces as I switched it on.

Accepting that I’d have to avoid my neighbors for a few weeks, I went ahead and tried the promising gadget. There’s a full range of lip products that go with it, to be used in a certain order, starting with the Bliss Fabulips Foaming Lip Cleanser, which, as the name suggests, cleans your lips and gets rid of any lipstick residue.

Of course, normal makeup remover would have done the job too, but the lip cleanser is pink and smells like candy – and that was enough to win me over. So there I was, squeaky-clean, ready to buff and stimulate my lips with the Pout-O-Matic.

Before using the gadget, though, I needed to slap on a bit of the Sugar Lip Scrub, a wax-like balm with tiny sugar granules, then massage it onto my lips with the rotating rubber head of the Pout-O-Matic for about 30 seconds. It was a funny feeling, slightly tingly, but not uncomfortable at all. After the 30 seconds, I was left with a lot of sugar scrub on and around my lips and on the gadget, but it was easy to wipe off with a tissue. I was very tempted to clean the gadget under running water, but since it’s not waterproof, I resisted.

My first impression right after the treatment was that my lips looked quite rosy and felt really smooth. I put on the Instant Lip Plumper gloss, hoping it would give me some extra volume, and even though my lips felt more plump, I can’t say I could see a huge difference in size. That said, my pout had never felt so soft, to the point where even hubby noticed when kissing me.

Another advantage of having clean, smooth, buffed lips is that my lipstick looked more even and was easier to apply, as it glided on effortlessly. When I sported bright red lipstick for the rest of the day, the compliments from other people on my “perfect lips” just kept coming.

The verdict? The Pout-O-Matic won’t give you Kylie Jenner lips, but it will exfoliate and buff your pout, giving you the perfect base for your fave lipstick. Bonus points for making kissing feel better.
