Indulgent Holidays On A Budget

Post GFC budgeting is still the new black and I’m discovering that it’s not too bad at all. Travelling on a budget sounds scary but it doesn’t have to mean hostels and 2 minute noodles. Here’s five tips on how you can treat yourself on holidays without having to mortgage the house.

1. Get surfing

By booking online direct with hotels you’ll often have access to the best rates around and by signing up to hotel e-newsletters, you will be the first to know about online sales and special packages to ensure your next escape is within reach.

2. DIY

Beauty treatments are a great way to feel relaxed and refreshed but a trip to the salon can set you back a pretty penny. Why not pack some of those products that never get touched and use the space of your apartment hotel room to give yourself all the pampering you don’t usually have time for? A long bubble bath, mani/pedi and a facemask are all great options.

3. Get your friends involved

Indulging is lots more fun with a group of friends. By sharing a room you’ll automatically reduce the cost of your accommodation while reliving the fun of teenage sleepovers.

Medina’s apartment hotels offer both one and two bedroom rooms with heaps of space and extras including sofa beds so you’ll be able to enjoy spending lots of time with you’re besties and won’t feel like you’re living in a sardine can.

4. Get local

Some of the most expensive parts of a holiday can be the tourist traps. Indulging in a location shouldn’t be all about ticking the sites off a list. A great way to save some coin is to live like a local. Spend your days soaking up the chicest local cafes and window shopping in luxe boutiques. Local parks, beaches and swimming pools are also sure-fire ways to ensure you recharge the batteries. A quick chat with the receptionist at your hotel is usually the best way to find out about your new city’s hottest spots. If you’re staying at Vibe Hotel, look out for their ‘locals’ guide’ for each hotel that offers an insider’s
recommendations to the best haunts close-by.

5. Maximise your sleep ins

There is nothing worse than having to wake up early on holidays. If you spend a little extra time hunting and talking to the right people you’ll discover that for only a fraction more you can secure late check out and flights at human hours. What could be more luxurious than an extra hour or two in bed?

You could win a More Indulgence @ Medina package, including two nights’ accommodation at any Medina hotel, late check out and Trelivings giftpack! Enter now!
