Is Angelina’s Ad Beautiful Or In Poor Taste?

Angelina Jolie is the latest celebrity to pose for Louis Vuitton luggage. But the ad, shot in one of the world’s poorest countries, has come under fire for being in poor taste. What do you think?

Shot in Cambodia by leading celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz, it shows Angelina contemplatively sitting on a river boat wearing khakis, and of course, a hugely expensive Louis Vuitton bag (in fact the bag featured reportedly costs just over $10,000).

The ad is part of the Louis Vuitton Core Values campaign, which donates money to charities around the world. Angelina herself gave away a big chunk of her $9.4 million pay cheque) to the campaign, and has very close ties to Cambodia, with her son Maddox born there.

Critics say the ad is flaunting first world wealth and our obsession with celebrity in third world poverty.

Other celebs who have fronted Louis Vuitton campaigns include U2’s Bono and Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones.

We want to know what you think – is the ad beautiful or in poor taste?
