John Galliano Wow Paris

Paris Couture Week kicked off in full bloom on Monday with a stunningly colourful collection from John Galliano.

The Christian Dior designer wowed onlookers including Lily Cole, Jessica Alba and Blake Lively with the striking looks, at the display in a transparent tent in the grounds of the Rodin museum.

Galliano was clearly inspired by flowers for the collection, which featured flashes of bright colours and plenty of hand-painted detailing.

A collection of ball gowns, saved for the finale, saw the celebrity crowd wowed with huge, colourful dresses jutting out from the waist, seemingly inspired by Elizabethan-style extravagance.

The show also featured a number of hairpieces courtesy of fellow Brit, milliner Stephen Jones, made to look like the cellophane wrapping used by florists.

The couture shows run until July 8, with displays from Givenchy, Chanel, Elie Saab and Valentino.
