Kate Hudson Talks Love, Babies and D Cups

Kate Hudson has opened up about her new love, Muse frontman Matt Bellamy, and the shock at learning she was pregnant so soon after starting a relationship with him.

“You always hear people say, ‘I never thought this would be the person I would end up with,’ but I don’t think you ever really know,” Hudson tells US InStyle magazine. “I love that Matthew knows how to express himself. He shows his love. He communicates.”

The couple met last year at the Coachella music festival in California and were introduced by a mutual friend. But it wasn’t the first time the two had met. “We realised we had met a few years earlier, in Australia. Then I got distracted and said, ‘I’ve got to find my friends; I don’t know where they went.’ He just looked at me and said, ‘Come on, I’ll take care of you.’ That’s when I went, ‘Wait a minute, who are you?’ ”

“Matthew was polite and immediately protective, which for somebody like me who’s all over the place – one minute I’m over here and the next I’m over there – is important. He is just an amazing person.”

The 32 year-old British rocker found the courage to ask for her number, but Hudson, 31, admits she was a little hesitant at first, especially considering her former marriage to Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes.

“In the beginning I felt like, okay, this is going to be heavy. Am I prepared for this? Because it had been a while, and I wasn’t looking for that,” she reveals. “But I just couldn’t stay away. I wanted to talk to him and be with him all the time. On our first dates we would take long walks and talk the entire day.”

The two quickly became inseparable, with Hudson introducing Bellamy to her mother Goldie Hawn within weeks. And before they knew it, she was pregnant. Despite wanting more children (Hudson has a 7 year-old son Ryder, with Robinson) she admits it wasn’t planned.

“We were tempting fate, and it worked. I didn’t think I was going to have another kid until I was maybe 33 – that was in the back of my mind before I met Matthew. But we were so in love when it happened, it was just so exciting for both of us.”

But the pair have no plans to marry soon. “I wouldn’t count it out, but Matthew and I kind of skipped that part and went right to the good stuff!”

The actress, soon to be seen in romcom Something Borrowed with Ginnifer Goodwin, says she’s loving her new baby body. “I’m usually an A cup and I’m getting close to a D cup,” she shares. “Big breasts are fun for certain things and really not fun for other things. Plus, I love fashion, and having big breasts is not ideal for certain looks. They’re way more fun when you’re not in your clothes. Then, they’re a blast!”
