Kate Winslet Forms The British Anti-Cosmetic Surgery League
She was one of the first stars to complain about the use of airbrushing and now Kate Winslet is going one step further, forming what she calls the ‘British Anti-Cosmetic Surgery League.’
Fed up with Hollywood’s obsession with youth and the overuse of Botox, 35-year-old Winslet has recruited two fellow British beauties (and good friends) Rachel Weisz and Emma Thompson to stand up against cosmetic surgery.
Winslet, the current face of Lancome, told the UK’s Telegraph that she “will never give in” to cosmetic surgery.
“It goes against my morals, the way that my parents brought me up and what I consider to be natural beauty.
“I am an actress, I don’t want to freeze the expression of my face.”
Oscar-winner Thompson, 52, confirmed the need to publicly declare their opposition to Hollywood pressure: “We’re in this awful youth-driven thing now where everybody needs to look 30 at 60.
“I’m not fiddling about with myself.”
Weisz, 41, agrees, highlighting how most ordinary people feel about cosmetic enhancement: “People who look too perfect don’t look sexy or particularly beautiful.”
What do you think – are you happy to hear celebrities take a stand against Hollywood pressures? Do you think it makes a difference?
