Your Long Flight Skincare Survival Checklist
Flying for more than a couple of hours and dreading how your skin will look by the time you pick up your luggage? Follow these essential skincare and makeup tips to ensure you look fresh and radiant for your trip!
Before you fly
The night before you fly, treat your skin to a hydrating mask. Your skin is about to get seriously dry on the plane and now is the time to deeply moisturise and nourish your face, eye area and neck.

On the plane
The number one skincare tip while flying? Don’t touch your face! Meryl Streep attributes her stunning skin to the fact she never touches her face throughout the day – and the same applies for flying. Everytime you touch your face on a flight, you’re adding bacteria to your skin (which is already suffering from dehydration and lack of sleep). Trust me – this is one rule I religiously follow and my skin is so much less clogged at arrival.
My on-board must-have is moist towelettes or facial wipes. They’re multi-purpose: remove any makeup after boarding (you shouldn’t be wearing makeup on a flight anyway!), they’re great as a hand wipe after meal service, and use them to freshen your face and neck before landing and getting rid of that awful plane smell.

And don’t forget to place your favourite lip balm in the seat pocket for hourly touch-ups – dry lips are no fun.
Just before landing
Give your scalp a quick massage to stimulate your blood circulation and brush your hair. A big floppy hat doesn’t go astray at this point either.
I always carry a tinted lip balm when I fly, so that I have a pop of colour to brighten my appearance when the flight has zapped it out of me.
We love: Lanolips Lip Ointment with Colour SPF in Rhubarb, a natural and universally-flattering soft red lip balm.
When you arrive
After that first heavenly shower, slap on a mud mask and let it work its magic while you unpack your bags. A good mud mask will draw out any impurities you picked up on the plane, and leave your skin feeling clean and comfortable.
We love: GlamGlow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment, the celebs swear by it and so do I – it’s like a facial in a jar.
