Masterclass Mondays: Smokey Eyes
Everyone loves a classic smokey eye, but there’s a fine line between sultry and raccoon. We show you how to get it right, just like Natalie Portman, using only five products.
Start with a light eyeshadow, like Nude By Nature’s Stone (from their Smoky Eyes Kit), and apply all over the lid in a pressing motion using an eyeshadow brush. Finish slightly above the crease.
From the outer corner of the eye, create a V-shape using a black or charcoal eyeshadow, such as Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics’ Storm, which contains a hint of shimmer, or Bloom’s new Black Eye Crayon & Brush, and blend above the crease line using a blending brush. Then, using an angled brush smudge under the lash line to the centre of the eye.
Apply a black kohl pencil (easier to blend than eye pencil) to the waterline and along the lower lash line. Smudge with a smudge brush or cotton bud.
Apply a dot of white/cream eyeshadow to the inner corner of the eye to open up the eyes, and smudge under the brow to create definition.
Clean up any product fall-out by sweeping the face with a clean eyeshadow brush, then finish with 2-3 coats of mascara, such as Clarins Instant Definition Mascara, which is two brushes in one: a fluffy brush for your longer lashes, and a tiny tip which gets into those difficult-to-reach lashes on the inner corner and lower lash line, leaving you with full, luscious lashes.
