Paid her dues, Winona RyderWinona paid her dues
Winona Ryder has won a bid to reduce her shoplifting offences from convictions to misdemeanors. The Girl Interrupted star was caught stealing thousands of dollars worth of clothes and accessories from the Saks Fifth Avenue store in Beverly Hills in 2002. Since then, the star has completed 480 hours of community service, has attended counselling and has paid more than $7,000 in fines and restitution. In court on Friday, her attorney requested the charges be reduced because she has complied with everything the judge requested. The judge agreed, reduced her charges and awarded her informal probation for the next 18 months. This means Winona will have the right to vote in the upcoming presidential election, and in time there is a chance her record will be removed altogether. Reality doesn?t bite so much after all.
Blushing bride AlanisAlanis Altar Bound
Her career has been based on angry songs about wrecked relationships, but now this jaded rocker is engaged. Alanis Morrisette has announced her boyfriend, actor Ryan Reynolds, has proposed to her. According to US Weekly magazine, the 30-year-old singer was delighted but surprised when her boyfriend of 2 years asked her to marry him. ?We were at home,? she said. ?It was very simple, pure and sweet – and shocking!? She apparently always felt the 27-year-old star of National Lampoon?s Van Wilder was someone she could settle down with. She told the magazine, ?I knew early on that he was someone I could spend the rest of my life with. I just feel like we?re family and we?re on this journey of evolving together. He?s courageous, he?ll talk about anything, he takes responsibility, he?s just unbelievable.? Isn?t it ironic…
