Face of Australia (Colour tested: Aussie River)
Good polish for a good price. The colour was a little streaky on first application but it?s fine once you add a second coat. It?s also quick drying (a definite plus for a busy girl), lasts quite well and there?s 18 shades to choose from.

Sax Nail Polish (Colour tested: Burnt Orange)
This is a great long lasting product. Only one coat is required with a smooth and shiny finish and lasted a good week without chipping or peeling. The polish was relatively easy to remove; the only downside is that it left staining on the nail.

Rimmel London Lycrawear 5 day Super Durable Polish (Colour tested: Beige)
Rimmel?s polishes are available in 22 fashion colours but this was the first exciting beige I have seen since the 80’s – all glossy shimmer shine. Quick drying, easy application with a generous bruss – I could have gotten away with one coat! The texture is truly different (there’s Lycra in it!). Rimmel Lycrawear passed the 5 day keyboard test and Beige is perfect day or night and oh so super durable indeed!

Max Factor Nailfinity (Colours tested: Pinkandescense & Red Passion)
Red Passion is ideal for an unforgettable flash of colour on a night out and was easy to remove (a plus for any bolder nail colour). Pinkandescense is a flirtatious lighter shade of pink, an ever sooo subtle hue with one coat and a gentle flush of colour with two! Both colours lasted a working week and lived up to the claim of shock proof, action proof and at least 5 days of chip proof. Tip: Use the Nailfinity Topcoat and Base for a lustrous wet look and longer lasting colour.

OPI Nail Lacquer (Colour tested: You?re Such a Kabuki Queen)
OPI is the nail lacquer used in salons around Australia. It?s easy to see why as the colours are so deep and rich and it?s easy to apply. Be careful though ? if you apply only one coat it?s likely to chip. As the OPI manicurists themselves say, always apply multiple coats for vibrant colour and chip free polish. Each collection is internationally themed – recent collections include the Japanese collection and the Greek Isles Collection and the new Canadian Collection. Take note of the hilarious names such as ?Don?t Socra-tease Me? and ?Have a Tempura Tan-Trum?.

Christina Fitzgerald (Colour tested: Diana)
Christina Fitzgerald is reputed as being Australia?s leading manicurists, so it makes sense with her knowledge she could come up with a truly magnificent polish. She names each polish after a client who meant something to her – there?s Hazel, Tiffany, Deborah, Barney. The colours almost seem to change depending on what you wear ? Diana for example was a pearly, almost sparkly hue with darker colours but with white, it becomes a soft pink. You definitely need more than one coat, and wait at least an hour before doing anything with your fingers or else you?ll get a big splodge in the middle!
