Nicole Richie’s new fashion range!

Nicole Richie got her fashionable finger on the pulse once again with her new read-to-wear range, Winter Kate.

Having marked her first foray into the fashion world with the hugely successful House of Harlow 1960 jewellery collection, Hollywood starlet and mother of two Nicole Richie has expanded into a complete ready-to-wear range for January 2010, Winter Kate by Nicole Richie.

Named after her daughter Harlow’s two middle names, the anticipated 37 piece range will be available exclusively through pre-order online at Miijo.com this November. “I’ve wanted to design a clothing collection for a very long time,” said Nicole. “My customer is a woman like me: She does not look at labels; she knows how to mix and match. The pieces can be dressed up, made casual, but most importantly, they provide the wearer a means of self-expression and fun.”

Inspired by Nicole’s signature eclectic bohemian style, the line features floaty maxi dresses, asymmetrical short dresses and shrunken leather jackets but will mostly consist of tops, tunics, vest and bed jackets in vintage inspired silks, cotton macrame, crepe and chiffon, as these are Nicole’s wardrobe staples. “I probably wear the same two pairs of jeans every day as the background to a fabulous top,” she said. “Bed jackets are a staple of my wardrobe because they are a gorgeous way to give jeans and a white T-shirt a completely different look.”

The key to summer dressing is ‘definitely a beautiful, fun slip dress in a great print and also a leather jacket to turn the romantic day dress in to an edgy night-out outfit,’ advises Nicole, which is why she ensured the collection has slip dresses in both solid and prints. ‘ you can wear prints by themselves or with a great vest and wear the solids as basics to an outfit with many layers.’

Prices start at $129 for silk camisoles through to $1999 for intricate crocheted leather vest. “Fashion should be accessible,” she added. “That was my philosophy when designing House of Harlow 1960 and it remains my philosophy for Winter Kate.”
