Paris Fashion Week Trend Report
Paris Fashion Week is the the grand finale of fashion week month, the cherry on top of the big fashion cake, and undoubtedly most fashionistas’ dream destination. It is in Paris where most trend-setting labels show their collections, such as Isabel Marant, Christian Dior, and Chanel.
There is a reason why Paris is called the fashion capital and not even New York can claim that title; Parisian women simply have that je-ne-sais-quoi that all of us non-Parisians try to achieve. Nobody looks as good in an all-black outfit as a French woman walking along the Seine river. Maybe that’s why the fashion shows in Paris are so popular. This season, the following trends dominated the Paris runways:
If you have a no-frills attitude, that’s great, but it doesn’t mean your outfit should be. Small frills could be seen at Isabel Marant whereas Viktor&Rolf showed big, bold frills. We like both!
2. Ankle boots
This is a trend that’s easy to copy. Ankle boots will be all the rage (again), which is great news as they are so versatile. Whether you combine them with a skirt or pants, they go with almost anything and can be very flattering.
This is the next step up from fringes. Tassel trims or complete tassel outfits will find a place in our wardrobes soon. Tassels might not be very practical, but they sure look great swaying from side to side when you walk.
Lace and Paris go together like copy and paste, so of course there was no shortage of the sexy fabric on the Parisian runways. At Nina Ricci, lace was used in a more subtle, wearable way whereas Balmain showed a sheer full body jumpsuit that leaves little to the imagination.
