Sandra Bullock Donates $1 Million To Japan Disaster

Sandra Bullock today donated $1 million to the Japanese earthquake appeal – could Sandra be even more amazing?

While celebs flocked to Haiti’s aid after their devastating earthquake in 2010, sadly so far none have appealed for help for the Japanese earthquake and tsunami disaster, so it’s wonderful to see Sandra do something so monumental.

The actress chose to donate to the American Red Cross, who is the most active charity on the ground in Japan helping with their disaster relief efforts.

One week after the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, total donations within the US stand at $64 million, paling in comparison to Haiti which raised in excess of $210 million in the same time period, and $457 million after Hurricane Katrina. The top two charities are the Red Cross and Save The Children – to donate to the Australian chapters of these organisations visit Save The Children and the Australian Red Cross Appeal.

Do you think celebrities should be more vocal in times of disaster appeals?
