Sex and the City 3: One Step Closer To Becoming a Reality

February 26, 2014

Are you excited at the idea of Sex and the Cit 3? Because it sounds like it’s pretty much going to happen.

Sarah Jessica Parker hinted at the possibility in January, and now director and writer Michael Patrick King says he largely agrees that there is “one last chapter to tell.”

“Sarah Jessica and I both know what that final chapter is,” King teased in an interview with CNN.

“That doesn’t mean it will or should be told, but I do think there’s one story left. Whether it ever happens is a whole other situation. But there’s four girls, and those girls are still in my mind. There are other stories to tell and characters that haven’t even been written yet.”

And it seems the other three stars appear to be on board. “If Michael Patrick King is writing the sequel, and Sarah Jessica Parker is starring in it, sure!” Cynthia Nixon, who played Miranda, said last week.

Sex and the City the show finished exactly 10 years ago, in February 2004, after a six-year run, and while the first film in 2008 was quite well received, the second, in 2010, was generally panned by both fans and critics. It’s safe to say though that fans will want to come back for one last story.

“It’s all really about the stories, and if you actually think you have something left to say that would make it exciting and worthwhile for the fans’ time – that’s really the question,” King continued. “Not whether you can get away with it, not whether anybody will buy it, not whether you can make money on it. It’s really like, is there enough or more to say that would justify people risking seeing their favourite characters again?”

Are you excited about a third Sex and the City movie?
