Should singers be allowed to lip-sync?
Is it fair that fans pay big-time bucks for stars who mime? Are you getting ripped off? Have your say!
The queen of pop herself, Britney Spears, has caused an uproar in Oz for lip-syncing her way through sold old concerts around the country.
Britney, 27, is said to have hid in her hotel room following her performance in Perth on Friday night after she found out how irate fans were.
Protesting over the high ticket prices ($200+) and “impersonal” nature of the show concertgoers said they were disappointed with the lack of commentary by Britney.
A representative for the Brit said: “Britney is aware of all this and she’s extremely upset by it.”
Politicians in three Australian states – Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales – are now calling for new laws to force music promoters to disclose whether a concert will be live or lip-synched beforehand.
John Mayer has defended Britney Spears for lip synching saying on his blog: “If you’re shocked that Britney was lip-syncing at her concert and want your money back, life may continue to be hard for you.”
So what do you think? Should stars be allowed to “fake” their shows? Have your say!
