Makeup isn’t designed to last forever and some products have a longer shelf-life than others before they should be disposed of. Some skincare and beauty products last for three years, while others only last for up to three months. Keep our guide handy the next time you’re doing a makeup and skincare clean-out:

Eyeshadow – 2 years

Eyeliner – 1 year

Liquid foundation – 2 years

Powder – 2 years

Lipstick – 1 year

Lipliner – 1 year

Brow pencil – 1 year

Concealer – 2 years

Makeup sponges – 6 months

Mascara – 3 months


Moisturiser – 2 years

Cleanser – 2 years

Toner – 6 months

Eye cream – 6 months

Body lotion – 12-24 months
