Dani Mathers’ victim has been found, and she wants justice.
Who can forget the case of Dani Mathers, the Playboy model who took a Snapchat of a woman showering at the gym and captioned it, “if I can’t unsee this you can’t either”?
The incident, which occurred in July, was body-shaming at its worst, and it seems Mathers may end up paying for it with jail time.
The Los Angeles Police Department has allegedly tracked down the victim, a woman in her 70s, and recommended that she take legal action against Mathers.
A source told TMZ that the woman “wants Mathers to feel the full force of the law for taking a pic of her while she was changing clothes in the locker room of an LA Fitness. The woman is more than willing to testify and cooperate in any way she can to bring Mathers to justice.”
A conviction on the likely charge of ‘dissemination of private images’ could carry a punishment of up to six months in jail.
Mathers said she meant to send the image privately to a friend, but accidentally posted it publicly because she didn’t know how Snapchat worked.
Her lawyer told The Wrap that he hopes his client will not be charged with any crime, saying she “never tried to hurt anyone anyone at any time and certainly never tried to break the law.”
Whatever happens, it seems the apology Mathers issued via Twitter not going to be sufficient.
I’m sorry for what I did… I need to take some time to myself now to reflect on why I did this horrible thing. Goodnight.
