Spring Hair Trends For 2014

August 5, 2014

With spring fast approaching, it’s time to take a leap of faith and give your hair a style re-fresh. This could involve chopping off those long locks, changing your colour or even trying out a semi-permanent shade. Regardless of the many options you have, below are just a few hair trends which will be huge in the spring and summer months ahead.

Get the chop

Many women are embracing shorter hairstyles which benefit the hair in many ways. Firstly, this removes the chance of split ends, and leaves hair feeling smooth and soft to the touch. Forget about cutting all those layers in your hair – sometimes a great haircut could mean just getting a straight cut down the bottom. Embrace the minimalist style by keeping hair voluminous at the crown.

Soft waves

If you weren’t blessed with naturally bouncy or curly hair, then the idea of creating artificial waves might seem foreign. Not only does dead-straight hair weigh down the rest of the face, but this look can seem quite dated. Embrace some movement in your hair by using a curling wand (the thicker the barrel, the bigger the curl). Stay away from thin barrels, since this will make the curls look artificial and fake. Spray in some sea-salt spray into your ends to maintain this un-done look.

The two-tone hair trend isn’t going anywhere yet! If you’ve been thinking about trying out ombré hair, now is the perfect time. This trend particularly suits women with naturally light brown / dirty blonde hair, since roots won’t look too harsh in comparison to the lighter ends. The trick is to create a colour which has gradually faded from dark to light. Paired with a faux glow, this hairstyle will make you look sun-kissed all year round.
