Remembering Oscar de la Renta

Fashion legend Oscar de la Renta has passed away at the age of 82. The designer was diagnosed with cancer in 2006 and passed away earlier today.

The Dominican designer crafted couture for every woman in the upper crust, from Jacqueline Kennedy and Princess Diana, to Sarah Jessica Parker and Taylor Swift. Most recently, he designed Amal Clooney’s wedding gown in which she famously wed actor George Clooney in September.

Get the Look: Amy Adams’ Oscars Hair

Amy Adams’ elegant Oscars hairstyle looks complicated, but celebrity hairstylist Renato Campora breaks it down into a few easy steps so you can recreate the look for your next formal event (wouldn’t it look great for a wedding?).

1. On wet hair, apply Kérastase Mousse Bouffante.

2. Part the hair on the left side, distributing Kérastase Forme Fatale from mid-lengths to ends and blow dry with a round brush.

3. Take the top section and separate it from the rest of the hair.

4. Create a French twist with the remaining back section and pin into place with bobby pins.

5. Apply Kérastase Forme Fatale throughout all sections for optimal shine.

6. Curl the remaining top section with a 1″ barrel iron to create waves. Let the hair cool and brush through.

7. Pull the top lengths back, combining them into the French twist and pin.

8. Polish off the look with Kérase Laque Coutoure.

Get the Look: Amy Adams’ Oscars Makeup

Amy Adams’ Oscars makeup was flawless and pure sophistication, paired with gorgeous Hollywood curls, so we couldn’t wait to share how celebrity makeup artist Stephen Sollitto created the look and which makeup products he used.

Skin
Stephen started by applying RéVive Moisturizing Renewal Cream on Amy’s skin. “I always moisturise with this product. This is the line I use on myself every day. Prepping the skin is just as important as the makeup you use.”

Then, he used Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide (coming soon). “This foundation is simple to apply with a wet sponge or your fingers. It’s long wear, oil free and lightweight. In the end it gives you a matte finish so you don’t have to dust your face with loose powder, it’s built in.”

To create a “spring-like blush,” Stephen used Tom Ford Beauty Cheek Color in Ravish to the apples of Amy’s cheeks.

Eyes
For Amy’s pretty eyes, Stephen applied Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour in Terracotta to Amy’s lids and Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour in Black Karat under the bottom lashes.

Next, he applied Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Sugar Frost, a pretty Champagne hue, to the inner corners of her eyes.

He then applied NARS Eye Paint Liner in Tatar, one of the prettiest deep purple cream lines, to make Amy’s eyes “pop.”

He finished by applying Dior Black Out Mascara on Amy’s lashes.

Lips
Amy’s glossy, rosy lips are a result of two products: Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour in Cozy, topped with Tom Ford Beauty Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Rose Crush.

Get the Look: Amy Adams’ American Hustle Premiere Makeup

Amy Adams looked pretty and polished at the American Hustle L.A. premiere last week, with flawless skin, defined eyes and classic rosy lips – the perfect beauty look for holiday parties this summer. Here’s how celebrity makeup artist Stephen Sollitto for Laura Mercier created the look, with some easy makeup tips to get Amy’s radiant look.

Skin
Stephen started by moisturising Amy’s skin using using RéVive Sensitif Renewal Cream Daily Cellular Protection Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen.

Next, he applied Laura Mercier Foundation Primer – Hydrating all over Amy’s face. This is a makeup artist favourite for creating a flawless base which keeps your makeup looking dewy and fresh all day and night.

He followed with a product he recommends to everyone: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Natural, which covers any imperfections but allows your skin to shine through.

For Amy’s natural flush, Stephen used Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Praline to “warm her skin” and create a “perfect, neutral cheek.”

Eyes
The focus of this look was all about the eyes, so Stephen starting by applying Laura Mercier Sequin Eye Colour in Twinkling Star, followed by Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Twilight on her upper and lower lash line and all over her eyelid. When your look is all about the eyes, your best makeup tips are to blend, blend, blend with a soft eyeshadow blend brush, and always start off with a light hand, step back and apply more only if needed.

He lined Amy’s upper and lower lash line using Laura Mercier Graphic Liquid Eyeliner. He then brushed Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eyeliner in Gunmetal Smoke, all over the eyelid, softening the dark tone of the eyeliner.

To achieve Amy’s luminous eye sparkle, apply a stroke of Laura Mercier Illuminating Eye Colour in Crystal Fantasy to the inner corners of the eyes.

He finished with one of our favourite mascaras, Dior Diorshow Blackout Mascara to her upper and lower lashes.

Lips
Stephen applied Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour in Café for Amy’s classic rosy lip polish.

Get The Look: Amy Adams’ Soft Curls In 5 Steps

We love Amy Adams’ soft curls as seen at the opening of the Carolina Herrera boutique on Rodeo Drive last week – it’s the perfect look for spring brides! Here’s how celebrity hairstylist Laini Reeves created the look in 5 easy steps.

1. Start by applying Moroccanoil Curl Defining Mousse to wet hair.

2. Next, comb your fingers through your hair and dry it out, allowing the natural texture and curl of the hair to form.

3. Once you have dried your hair completely, use a light spray of L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray.

4. With a 2″ curling iron, start curling random sections of your hair. After you do this, take three large sections and roll the ends of your hair under and pin it in place.

5. Finally, allow your hair to cool and take a large paddle brush to soften the wave. Finish with a light spray of hairspray.
