Plan A Healthy Menu For Your Baby Shower

Planning a baby shower can be extremely involved and there’s a lot you need to prepare for the big day including invitations, decorations, novelties and games.  But one of the most important things to plan for the day is the food.  You can’t go wrong with a menu full of healthy snacks but don’t forget to indulge in treats a little too.

So here are some tasty ideas for your upcoming baby shower:

  • Fresh chopped up fruit such as strawberries, rockmelon, grapes and pineapple are refreshing and colourful so they look great arranged on a large platter.  Consider making a chocolate dipping sauce for a treat.
  • Fresh vegetables such as carrot, celery and broccoli are delicious and nutritious, especially if you team them with some yummy dips.  Try making them yourself from fresh ingredients such as avocado or roasted capsicum.
  • Finger foods such as light sandwiches, potato pinwheel scones, crab cakes or vegetable scrolls are perfect for a baby shower because they’re easy to eat off a napkin or small plate.
  • It wouldn’t be a baby shower if you didn’t have some sweets to nibble on too, after all, baby showers are about being treated and pampered.  Consider scrummy cupcakes, a chocolate slice or if you have the money, a specialty cake made and decorated by a professional.

Here are some recipes as mentioned above:

Kerry Washington’s Garden Party-Themed Baby Shower

Kerry Washington has celebrated her baby shower with a garden party-themed bash with about 40 of her family and celebrity friends.

The Scandal star, 37, wore a simple denim shirtdress and gold heels, and celebrated with friends Jane Fonda and co-stars Darby Stanchfield and Katie Lowes. Guests sipped lemonade and Champagne on the sunny winter Sunday.

The party was hosted at the home of Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes in L.A. – just a day after Washington won Outstanding Actress In A Drama Series and the show took home the Outstanding Drama Series award at the NAACP Image Awards.

Washington has not revealed the baby’s sex, with guests bringing gifts wrapped in neutral tones like yellow and green. She is due to give birth in the autumn.

Gwen Stefani’s Star-Studded Baby Shower

Gwen Stefani has celebrated her baby shower in true celebrity style: with a star-studded party for friends including Jessica Alba and Gwyneth Paltrow.

The 44-year-old singer and her celebrity friends gathered at the swish Hotel Bel Air in Beverly Hills on Saturday, and although she’s due any week now, Stefani was decked out in true rock-chick style: leather pants, edgy top and black and nude peep toe heels, and of course, her signature red lips.

Jessica Alba gifted the mum-to-be a giant nappy cake made up of nappies from her organic baby product company, Honest, as well as a huge storage bin full of baby clothes, toys and books.

Meanwhile Gwyneth Paltrow arrived looking elegant in black and white, and other celebrity friends Kate Beckinsale, Nicole Ritchie, Rachel Zoe and Chelsea Handler all joined the party, which was catered with blue-glazed donuts and blue and white sweets.

And since Stefani is expecting her third boy, each guest was given a gift bag that included blue fairy floss and blue lollipops.

Inside Fergie’s Baby Shower

Fergie has celebrated her baby shower in a star-studded party in L.A.

The singer, who is due in September, took over the SLS with friends – including Kelly Osbourne, Julianne Hough, Molly Sims, Ru Paul, Adam Lambert, Lance Bass and Halle Berry’s ex, Gabriel Aubrey – with Fergie welcoming guests by announcing “it’s my baby boy’s first party!”

Fashion Police’s George Kotsiopoulos tweeted this adorable photo with Fergie and co-star Osbourne, calling it the ‘best #GaybyShower ever!!!’

Hubbie Josh Duhamel was also in attendance, enjoying Ferg-aritas with guests and his wife’s own-label Ferguson Crest wine. Burlesque drag performers entertained guests, who also enjoyed a four-tied cake designed with the black, white and blue theme in mind, with one layer being decorated in baby blocks spelling out BABY, with a teddy bear on top.

Younger guests at the baby shower were entertained with teal and clear balloon animals, and everyone took home blue and white sweets.

Earlier this month, Duhamel, 40, announced he was preparing a push present for Fergie, 38 (real name Stacey Ann Ferguson), around the time that she took his last name, legally changing her name. The couple married in 2009.

Duhamel is excited at being a hands-on dad, saying they’ll make their schedules work to make sure they’re around for their little boy.

“I can’t imagine having a kid and then not being able to be there – that would just drive me crazy. My head would be at home with mom and baby,”he explained.

“We want to work it out so that we can be together; whether I am working, they can come with [me] or if she is working I can go with them. I can’t see myself ever wanting to be away from my wife and kid.”
