Drinking alcohol out of fruit makes it healthy… right?
Whether you had one too many drinks the night before, or simply just need a pick-me-up for the long day ahead, a Bloody Mary is always a good idea.
Make your own at home by following this easy recipe which takes just 10 minutes to prepare (and 1 to drink!)
2 ounces vodka
2 ounces tomato puree
1/2 ounce lemon juice
1 big dash Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp freshly grated horseradish
3 dashes Tabasco
2 pinches celery salt
1 pinch black pepper
Crab leg (cooked, optional)
Whole shrimp (cooked, optional)
Mini sweet peppers
Black lava salt for rim
- Combine all of the cocktail ingredients into a shaker, and fill with ice. Shake for 10 seconds before emptying the entire contents into a pint glass.
- Decorate the glass with black lava salt on the rim for extra flavour.
- Then simply add as many garnishes as possible!

Fashion isn’t the only realm under the influence of Mad Men. The series, set in 1960s Manhattan, has also ushered in a return to traditional drinking tastes. Don Draper and his buddies are rarely seen without a drink in hand – and they like the hard stuff. If you’re looking to impress at your next cocktail party – try these on for style.
1 sugar cube
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Splash of soda water
1 Maraschino cherry
Put ice in a tumbler, add ingredients, stir and garnish with an orange slice and/or a maraschino cherry.
0.5oz dry vermouth
If you like your martini like 007 – shaken, not stirred – shake the gin and vermouth in a cocktail shaker. Otherwise, just pour them into a martini glass and garnish with olives on a toothpick.
4oz tomato juice
3-5 dashes of tabasco
2 dashes worcestershire sauce
1/2 lime (juice only)
1 celery stalk
Salt and pepper to taste
Put ice in a tall glass and vodka, tomato juice, worcestershire sauce, lime (or lemon) juice , and tobacco. Add salt and pepper as desired, and garnish with celery stalk.
2oz white tequila
1oz lime juice
Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and serve in a cocktail glass with a salted rim.
1oz dry gin
1oz sweet vermouth
Serve straight up or on the rocks, with an orange slice or peel to garnish.
