Michael Douglas And Catherine Zeta-Jones Separate

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones have separated after 13 years of marriage.

The couple have confirmed they are taking some time apart to “evaluate and work on marriage,” their rep said in a statement today.

Douglas, 68, is currently holidaying in Sardinia, while Zeta-Jones, 43, is in New York with their two children Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10.

The pair have not been seen publicly together since April when they appeared on the red carpet at the 40th Annual Chaplin Award Gala in New York.

It’s been a tough few years for the couple, with Douglas battling throat cancer (implying that he got it from oral sex) and Zeta-Jones seeking treatment for bi-polar disorder, most recently in April.

Thorne-Smith Single again

Thorne-Smith Single again

Courtney Thorne-Smith
She might play a happily married woman on TV but Courtney Thorne-Smith’s real-life relationships seem far from happily ever after. The thirty-six year old Melrose Place and Alley McBeal star has just split with her fianc? of two years, cardiologist Robert Andrews. “Robert and I have amicably decided to call off our engagement,” said Thorne-Smith in a statement from her rep. “We remain good friends.” The actress and the medicine man reportedly met on a blind date and got engaged on Thanksgiving in 2002. They were due to be married in the next few months. It would have been a second walk down the aisle for Thorne-Smith, who was married once before to genetic scientist Andrew Conrad. That marriage only lasted seven months but Thorne-Smith sang a similar tune then too, saying the two “would remain good friends” in addition to sharing custody of their dogs. We knew she should have married Billy from Melrose Place and lived happily ever after!

George Clooney
Oceans Twelve signs Zeta-Jones
Do you think a cast that includes George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Andy Garcia needs some female stars to complement their talent? Well Ocean’s Twelve have now added Catherine Zeta-Jones to their midst as well as a return performance from our favourite ?Pretty Woman? Julia Roberts. Oscar winner Catherine Zeta-Jones has answered the call of director Steven Soderbergh and will of will join the fun in his much anticipated follow-up to the 2001 hit crime caper Ocean’s Eleven.

George Clooney
This time round, Oceans Twelve will again centre around George Clooney?s character, the smooth talking con artist Danny Ocean. But the boys will attempt three ambitious jobs in Paris, London and Berlin while they are hunted by Las Vegas casino boss Andy Garcia, who they ripped off in the first flick. Set to hit our movie screens in December this year! Hold on to your popcorn chicks this movie will have more for you to drool over than the volleyball scene in Top Gun!

Zeta-Jones back in court again

Zeta-Jones back in court again

Catherine Zeta-Jones filed a lawsuit last week in US Federal court seeking over $30 million dollars from the cosmetics firm Caudalie for running an ad campaign claiming the actress “was spotted buying the complete Caudalie range of skincare” and had used the company’s anti-aging spa in Las Vegas. The Oscar-winner says, in her lawsuit, that she has never purchased such products, nor did she receive services from the spa. Catherine Zeta-Jones is obviously keen to hose down any association with Caudalie cosmetics as she has an exclusive deal to promote Elizabeth Arden cosmetics and is keen to prove that Caudalie cosmetics had no right to use her name in promotions. Looks like she will have her day in court yet again!

Madonna has new number 1 hit

Not to be outdone in the literary stakes by Harry Potter, Madonna has scored yet another number 1 hit, this time with her first children?s book The English Rose. ?It demonstrates once again that Madonna has an extraordinary gift for communicating with children of all ages,? said Nicholas Callaway, CEO of Callaway Arts & Entertainment, the book?s US publisher, in a statement issued last week. Not bad for a working mum of two kids!

Elton John downscales

After a lifetime of flamboyant extravagance, reports out of the UK suggest that singer Elton John is going all minimalist and selling off the contents of his London home. The contents include all sorts of fabulous furnishings including Elizabethan paintings, Art Deco beds, lamps, gilt mirrors, glass baubles, candelabras, tables, clocks, statues, a full dining suite and dinner service, two complete sitting rooms and several bedrooms. According to reports, the booty will be auctioned off by glamour auction house Sotheby’s on September 30. So save up your pocket money for that sale!
