This is pretty fitting for Christmas afternoon. Lunch is over, the oldies are napping or gone home, and the rest of us are keen to party. But the bars are closed so it’s time to put your own bartending skills to the test by recreating some classic cocktails for friends and family. Below are just a few ideas which require 4 ingredients or less.

Mint Julep

This classic bourbon recipe is infused with mint leaves for a truly fresh flavour. Combine with one tablespoon of simple syrup to create a thick texture, and mix with ice and water if you prefer your drink on the wild-side.


The Alexander

Anyone who loves the dry taste of gin will love The Alexander – even if you don’t like gin you’re bound to love this drink as well! Combine with a few dark chocolate pieces to infuse the alcohol, then fill a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice cubes. Garnish with fresh strawberry juice or puree for an extra sweet flavour.
