Alexander Wang For H&M Sells Out!

The brand new Alexander Wang for H&M Collaboration hit stores in Sydney and Melbourne on November 6th, and was the global-first in-store launch. Menswear has completely sold out within the first 3 hours, and rightfully so!

You might be able to find a few womenswear pieces floating around in Sydney’s Macquarie Centre and Melbourne’s GPO Flagship store, but there is absolutely no chance of restocking any more products. What you see is what you get!

Where you one of the first to line-up outside of stores this morning at 7am? Guests were treated to parkour performances, beatboxers, and break-dancers at Melbourne’s GPO Flagship store to mark the special 10th anniversary of H&M’s designer collaborations.

Popular items included the monogrammed grey sweater, backpack, and marle sweater which shows us that sports luxe is definitely not going anywhere soon.

Fashion & Beauty Lowdown (Contd..)

Oscar Fashion

Since the 74th Oscars last night it looks like fashion is heading into a very soft and pretty direction. Femininity speaks loud and clear. Especially with Nicole Kidman choosing to wear a Chanel pink-chiffon, spaghetti-strap gown with tiers of ruffles running down the bodice. Her adopted daughter Bella was apparently her style dictator and we think she did a damm good job. Halle Berry was one of the most risqu? with her wine-coloured A-line ballgown with sheer bodice and strategically placed beaded flowers. Jennifer Connolly was also incredibly feminine with her champagne coloured strapless gown with matching scarf. Kirsten Dunst’s silver-speckled rose-coloured tulle gown by Christian Dior featuring shabby chic pink satin ribbon bows was outstanding. So was Lopez’s Versace corset gown. Shame about the hair J. Lo. Along with Jennifer’s disappointing hair do we feel too many of the girls wore disappointing gowns in basic black, a’la Sandra Bullock, Renee Zellwegger and so on. Check out www.oscar.com for pics and behind-the-scenes fashion and beauty gossip.

The Pyjama Game-how to play it!

The hottest look at the moment is pyjamas. Might seem a little kooky but comfy cosy clothing is back.

If you want to be ahead of the rest than start wearing your PJs out of the house. Every designer from Prada to Gucci had pyjama style clothes on the runway. Start searching for loose drawstring pants or flowing floor-length dresses. Go for piped and printed pyjama jackets or pants with a fitted Bonds singlet. When you wear drawstring pants make sure you combine them with a very fitted knit top and that floor-length dress

needs one of those big leather belts that you may have purchased last summer? Sportsgirl and Portmans have some rather slick belts for you to check out. A good place to get a cheaper but modern cut of the PJ look is at Witchery so go straight to www.witchery.com.au

Shopping Tips for Your Next Big Spree

Designer ChicIf designer clothes are your weakness and spending $300 on a t-shirt is not a problem for you then you should keep these shopping tips in mind for the next big spree:

  1. When you go shopping next think about what’s required for your lifestyle, including work and weekend. Aim to make multi-functional pieces work together.
  2. Invest in classic items that will always look good rather than buying into passing trends. If you need something fun, don’t overspend.
  3. Stock up on must-have items when you go overseas. If you’re smart you’ll get bargain items that haven’t hit the stores here yet.
  4. Look further a field for one-offs. Try designer outlets and sales? you can pick up amazing designer bargains. Go to vintage shops as well because you can often find old Dinnigan’s, Chanel’s or Gucci’s.

Vintage Chic

Do you salivate when you walk into a vintage boutique? you scrummage through boxes of clothes and clothes until you find the bargain you have been looking for?

Well, then you better follow these tips:

  • Never buy things without trying them on, no matter how cheap they are.
  • Take a friend along to rummage through clothes together. It’s just as much fun finding an outfit for your mate.
  • Don’t buy items that don’t fit properly unless you’re willing to get them altered straight away.
  • Avoid trendy¬†and expensive second-hand shops. Instead, try little-known stores and once you find a favourite place, never tell anyone about it.
  • Be imaginative. That dress may look boring on the rack but if you wear it with a great accessory it could be the next fantastic addition to your wardrobe.
  • Never give up! You can find bargains in the most unlikely places. If in Sydney try Bobby Dazzler in Coogee? you will find incredible pieces.
