“While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate,” Klum said in an exclusive statement to People. “We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition. “We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support. And for our children’s sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy.” While neither Klum nor Seal have indicated why they are separating, TMZ is reporting that she could no longer handle her husband’s “volcanic temper.” The model, 38, and British singer, 48, married in 2005 after one of Hollywood’s most elaborate wedding proposals: Seal popped the question with a 10-carat yellow diamond ring in a specially-built igloo on top of a glacier in Whistler, Canada. Klum described it as “a once-in-a-lifetime event.” The couple have famously renewed their vows every year, including a white trash wedding when Klum was pregnant with their youngest child, Lou, 2. They are also parents to Leni, 7, Henry, 6 and Johan, 5. In 2009 the Project Runway host took her husband’s last name, Samuels. What do you think of this latest celebrity divorce? Do celebrities call it quits too easily?
“Nothing can describe the feeling,” she told Star magazine. “You have the instant connection once you know your child is growing inside you, but when you hold it for the first time, the words can’t be found.” The singer gushed about husband Jay-Z. “He would not have missed (the birth) for anything. He is a very protective and loyal guy by nature. “He is a very protective husband, and since we found out I was pregnant I have seen the protective father in him,” she added. “He is not only an inspirational artist, he is an inspirational husband. I know the next step on his journey is going to be being an inspirational father.” She also described Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, as a hand-on dad: “He will change diapers, of course he will. He is going to be a very hands-on father. “He has already said publicly that providing isn’t love. Love is being there. Love is doing the little things for your child.” Jay-Z is so smitten with his newborn daughter that he wrote a poem about her, promising to never use the word b*tch again. “Before I got in the game, made a change, and got rich, I didn’t think hard about using the word b*tch,” he wrote. “I rapped, I flipped it, I sold it, I lived it. Now with my daughter in this world I curse those that give it. No man will degrade her, or call her names. “I’m so focused on your future, the degradation has passed. I wish you wealth, health and insight. Forever young you may pass. Blue Ivy Carter, my angel.”
