Interior Designer Profile: Roxy Sowlaty

Roxy Sowlaty made her way onto our screens on the very first season of reality television show the Rich Kids of Beverly Hills, but her career as an interior designer speaks for itself.

Inspired by a fusion of classic and modern pieces, her skillful eye has landed a number of freelance residential projects in Manhattan, as well as a home in Aspen. But her passion of interiors didn’t stop there – Roxy has also introduced her own line of candles which will turn any blank space into a home.

Sofas

A good sofa is a must; and as Roxy says, it has two purposes: “it is a place to sit, and adds something to your living room.” Feel free to experiment with colour if you want to liven up your living room, but if you want to keep it classic, a white sofa never goes out of style.

Candles

A good candle brings a warm, pleasant aroma to any space and creates a calming ambience, so don’t underestimate its necessity! Keep one on your coffee table, kitchen, and in the bathroom as a quirky air freshener.

Wall mirrors

Bring some fun to a sad wall with a wall mirror. Not only are they really useful for touching up your lipstick on the way out, but look amazing on a wall with a pop of colour. You can choose the type of design, style, colour and finish for your home, and there are many available at almost any price point.

Bar stools

Whether you’re entertaining by the pool or in some serious need of new decor for the kitchen, a bar stool in a must-have. Look for something with a firm cushion (for obvious reasons) and stick to a monochrome style for a classic, refined look.

Pillows

Ever wondered what’s missing from your bed and sofa? Black and white pillows are a fun way to inject some some serious style into your home without fear of going OTT. Roxy’s favourite includes any type of bold patterns or graphic prints which complement a faux fur rug for winter.
