Is there anything we’re not underrepresented in?
Many dark-haired celebrities are making a change to a lighter, sun-kissed look for the warmer weather, and one of our favourite has got to be Jessica Alba. To maintain those bright blonde locks, it’s important to use a few products and homemade tricks which will ensure that your hair never looks brassy or dry.
A hydrating conditioner is essential when you’re working with bleached hair, since it adds some much needed moisture back into the hair follicle. While you’re in the shower, apply conditioner at your roots, then tie up the rest of your hair into a bun. Leave it in for 5-10 minutes and rinse with cold water for best results.
OGX Hydrating Macadamia Oil Conditioner, $17.99
Did you know that chamomile is a natural way lighten your hair? Fill a large bowl with lukewarm water and 4-5 bags of chamomile. Let the water infuse for a few minutes, then tip your hair into the bowl. The water should soak into your hair for about 10 minutes, then squeeze out the excess and let your hair dry in the sun.
To keep your bleach blonde ends from getting too dry and over-processed, it is important to visit the hairdresser on a regular basis. If you have a few split ends, simply wrap a lock of hair around your finger, and lightly snip off all the strays.
Blonde hair can go brassy without a moments notice, so always keep a violet shampoo in your bathroom cabinet. Apply the product to your ends, leave it in for 5 minutes, and wash with cold water. It helps to cancel out any brassy or orange tones from your hair between trips to your hairdresser or colourist.

If your hair is damaged from all the sea-water or treatments, simply use a homemade mask to bring it back to life. Olive oil is perfect on damaged, brittle ends and coconut oil is an amazing hair and scalp mask, which brings back instant shine.

Chopping your hair into a short bob can often feel like a blessing and a curse.
While it’s so much easier to get ready in the morning, sometimes if feels like there’s only one way to style your hair down.
Below are a few key hairstyles to keep your locks manageable and looking stylish at the same time.
Give your hair a bouncy look by curling small pieces with a wand, or even with the use of sea-salt spray. Since your hair is short enough to dry naturally, mist lightly with sea-salt spray and scrunch with your fingers. The result? A beachy style which looks really natural, and takes less than 5 minutes to create.
Cutting some soft bangs not only frames the entire face, but gives you a little bit more to work with. You can wear them straight, curly, or even pinned back to create the illusion of thicker hair. Our favourite way to style bangs is by using a round brush, and styling backwards with the help of a hair dryer.
This works best on hair which is straight and has little to no layers, and is also quick and easy! Simply comb back all your hair, and secure in a high bun. Leave out any front layers to go with this beach-inspired look.
If your hair is extremely short and layered, then a low bun is one of the best ways to switch up your look. Use mostly bobby pins to section your hair, and create tiny braids which are perfectly for almost any outing. Don’t forget to mist lightly with hairspray for that extra hold!

As the old saying goes, dress for the job you want! We can all get a bit bored wearing the same thing to work every day. Rejuvenate your office style with these funky, but professional looks.
Whether you’re into pleated, pencil or A-line, a skirt for the office should always sit just above the knee. This shouldn’t be a problem with this season’s top pick: the tea-length skirt.
You can’t go wrong with tailored, ankle-length pants, paired with trendy flats or delicate heels. But for the freshest look, try a wide-leg pant like Jessica Alba.
The white shirt
Timeless and classic – this item will always be in style, especially in your white-collar workplace. Take Kim Kardashian’s advice, and style with black pants and minimal accessories.
If you love a burst of bright color, dress-up a monochrome look with some dramatic makeup, or a bold jacket, bag or shoes.

This season seems to be anything-but-traditional with some truly outrageous hairstyles hitting red carpets. If you’ve ever wanted to experiment with your hair, now is the time to do it – you might just stumble across a trend-setting ‘do.
Game of Thrones star, Natalie Dormer, shaved the side of her head for the Hunger Games: Mockingjay. If you’re not as brave as Natalie and fellow side-shaved celeb, Rosario Dawson, you can try a dramatic part and a side braid or sleek sweep, like Jessica Alba and Sophie Turner.
You can catch Nicole Richie in her new reality show with cool lilac locks! Kelly Osborne and Ke$ha are also sporting this outrageous, candy-colored trend.
Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Lawrence make short hair look effortless with their edgy, waved style.

Growing out short hair and feeling less than inspired? You’re in luck, because these five celebrity hairstyles should convince you that a medium-lentgth hairstyle is just as chic as a bob or long hair. A style that isn’t too long or too short will frame your face, and has plenty of versatility with how you style it.
Jessica Alba’s ombre waves
One of the hottest celebrity hairstyles, Jessica Alba’s ombre waves is a great example how to style thick, naturally wavy hair. Jessica’s hair falls just below the shoulders, and you can create similar waves at home using a clamp less curling iron. But this hairstyle, which is ideal for oval-shaped faces, looks equally great straight.
Amy Poehler’s wavy bob
Funny woman Amy Poehler’s bob falls just at her shoulders, with a wispy fringe, swooped to the side, that frame her forehead and allow her to wear her hair up or down. To get Amy’s slight wave, cut layers to create movement and use a large-barrel curling iron. This medium-length hairstyle is especially flattering on heart-shaped and round faces.
Gwnenyth Paltrow’s long straight layers
Gwyneth Paltrow let her blunt bob grow out into a medium-length hairstyle with long layers that are especially defined at the ends. The super straight finish is perfect for a really strong, polished look. Use a straightening balm before straightening the hair, and finish with a light hold hairspray to tame flyaways. Try tucking one side of the hair behind the hair to show off fabulous earrings when going out.
Rachel McAdams’ loose curls
Rachel McAdams has gone from blonde to brunette to red, but always comes back to medium-length hair, which shows off her flawless skin and sparking eyes. Not ready to go all-out red like Rachel? Try auburn highlights, then have your stylist cut shapely layers which become more defined when curled in a loose spiral pattern with a medium-barrel curling iron or flat iron. It’s the perfect hairstyle for anyone with an oval face.
Katy Perry’s Old Hollywood curls
Katy Perry is the queen of transformation, so one day she might be wearing a platinum blonde wig, and another day, a retro updo. But one look she keeps coming back to medium-length hair that falls just below the shoulders. The Old Hollywood curls is a classic style that takes from you from day to night. Start by parting the hair to the side, and use large rollers to curl the ends of the hair. Try an intense hair colour like Katy’s rich chocolate brown to make the hairstyle stand out even more.

What are your favourite makeup products for the Races?
Jessica Alba looked glowing and gorgeous at the 2013 ALMA Awards red carpet in California over the weekend. Here’s how Avon celebrity makeup artist Lauren Andersen created the look – with some great makeup tips for achieving a radiant, natural beauty look.
Lauren started by applying Koh Gen Do Foundation and Laura Mercier concealer to Jessica’s skin.
Lauren used Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Mocha Latte. The quad’s #2 shade was dusted across the eyelid, then the dark brown shades were added along the crease to add depth and a light smokiness.
Then, she lined the lash line eyes with Avon SUPERShock Gel Eye Liner in Intense Brown.
Finally, Lauren finished the eyes with lashings of Mega Effects Mascara.
To set Jessica’s strong brows, Lauren used Votre Vu Brow Wax.
Jessica’s glow was achieved by applying Avon Ideal Luminous Blush in Molten Mocha on the apples of her cheeks.
For extra radiance and dimension, Lauren used Lorac TANtalizer Highlighter and Matte Bronzer Duo to contour, and Hourglass Radiant Light Powder over the top to brighten.
To complete the look, Lauren used Avon Ultra Color Lipstick in Cashmere to get that your-lips-but-better hue.
What do you think of Jessica Alba’s nude makeup?
You don’t have to be a Hollywood starlet to stay fabulous while raising kids. While hot celebrity mums like Jessica Alba and Gwyneth Paltrow might have an entire staff of people and at their disposal, they still follow some pretty basic tricks that you can use as well. Here’s how you can remain gorgeous and feminine while raising kids at the same time.
Take time to pamper
Busy mum Gwyneth Paltrow knows the importance of taking time to pamper yourself, even if you’re juggling work and family. In a recent Goop newsletter, she spills about her favourite DIY spa treatments, which include an oatmeal and honey body scrub and a simple Epsom salt bath. Even if you can’t steal a full 45 minutes away from parenting to take a bath, try taking a quick 10 minute break to apply your favourite body butter or file and buff your nails. It will boost your confidence and reduce your stress level at the same time.
We know it’s seemingly impossible to stay on top of everything when you’re managing children, a partner and a job. But the more organised you are, the less stress you’ll experience, and stress is the fastest way to take your look from fabulous to frumpy. “[It’s] about putting your kid on a schedule instead of letting them run you,” Jessica Alba told Well+Good NYC. “When you put the kids to bed at seven, you get to be a woman with your husband, or go have dinner, or whatever.”
Don’t obsess over the little things
Gwyneth and Jessica might always look flawless, but for every “perfect” celebrity mum, there are one or two who aren’t afraid to admit that motherhood can be a little difficult sometimes. Pop star mums Mariah Carey and Britney Spears have both admitted to feeling a little frazzled while trying to balance bringing up kids and managing their careers. Instead of freaking out about minor mishaps, learn to roll with the punches. Inner peace is definitely the first step to feeling fabulous.
