This definitely isn’t helping Depp’s case right now…
A smiling face can hide a world of hurt.
This divorce could get very ugly.
This may be the best thing we’ve seen all year.
If a bloke turned up at your door, ready to whisk you away for a hot date, would you bat an eyelid if he was sporting the new OPI colour collection?
I’ve long thought that the state of a man’s hands tell you much about him, such as whether he’s getting intimate lady time. I’m thinking grubby, filthy, half-chewed fingernails are a dead giveaway of no play.
Good news ladies, erm I think: male nail art, or “man-icures” are big business right now – at least, according to Amazon. The shopping giant recently credited a “male varnish effect” for the fact that its nail products were selling like hot cakes.
Amazon says it has recorded a whopping 90 per cent rise in sales of nail gem decoration and a 98 per cent increase in UV nail polish, nail stripers and nail strengtheners.
Of course, it we look to Hollywood, male nail art is nothing new – check out these pics of the perennially-cool Johnny Depp rocking blue nail polish; suave singer/songwriter Seal (pictured below) showing off his bright yellow “man-icure”; and, of course, the hilarious and uber-talented Brit stand-up comedian, actor and writer Eddie Izzard (pictured below), who’s long been a fan of a pretty mani. The latter is committed to running for London Mayor in 2020, so male nail art may yet get a lot more cred in conservative arenas.
Long loved by 80s hair bands, male nail art is also embraced by the very manly guitar god Dave Navarro; the hottest ginger on the planet, Prince Harry, and the super-sexy soccer star David Beckham. But do you have to be an A-list male celebrity to pull this look off?
Now, while I’m not sure if you have to worry too much just yet about your average red-blooded Aussie male raiding your nail polishes, the internet is rife with blogs (pictured below) by seemingly normal guys who like nail art (not that there’s anything wrong with that).
So, is male nail art to be shunned or applauded? I say let’s embrace it – it’s a sign of the metrosexual times in which we live, and a big positive surely, if men are spending more time on their self-care and appearance?
Maybe the blokes should just keep their mitts off our beloved Chanel and OPI though, and instead stick to male nail polish brands like Alphanail and Evolutionman! Some things should not be shared.
What do you think?

The Apple of Gwynnie’s eye
The mother of Apple Gwyneth Paltrow gave birth to her first child on Friday 14th May. Daughter Apple Blythe Alison Martin was born in London, reportedly after a long labor. Husband Chris Martin from the band Coldplay has officially said ?We are 900 miles over the moon, and we’d like to thank everyone at the hospital who have looked after us amazingly”. The question on everyone?s lips however, is how did they come up with the name Apple? Some say it?s a tribute to the Beatles from British rocker Chris. It?s also been heard that Apple is the name of Gwyneth?s grandmother. Or is she named after her place of conception ? New York. Other crazier suggestions include Gwyneth’s love for her computer, she ate a lot of apples during her pregnancy and her passion for healthy food. Hmmm? what next? Soy, Celery and Lettuce?
Blushing bride KateBeckinsale’s double win
If you thought gorgeous Kate Beckinsale had good reason to smile this past weekend you would be right! Not only did the English star?s new monster movie, Van Helsing, slay them at the box office over the weekend but the British beauty tied the knot with her beau, Underworld director Len Wiseman. Beckinsale?s publicist confirmed that the pair were married at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles in front of a small gathering of family and friends, including Underworld costar Scott Speedman. The bride looked radiant in Vera Wang and a smile, but things weren?t always so rosy. Beckinsale and Wiseman met on the set of the 2003 sci-fi fantasy flick Underworld, and announced their engagement last June. This raised some eyebrows in Hollywood as it was only just two months after Beckinsale’s official breakup with longtime lover Michael Sheen. Their seven-year union produced a daughter, five-year-old Lily, however the duo never married. But Kate and Len won?t be honeymooning for long. Pre-production has begun on an Underworld sequel and Beckinsale was recently tapped as the front person for a new series of Diet Coke ads coming soon to your TV screen.

Brad Pitt has said when he and Jennifer Aniston have children he wants a baby girl that will look exactly like his wife. In an interview with Austrian newspaper Kronenzeitung, Brad said he and Jennifer were in the early but active stages of planning a family. “Jen and I are in the negotiation phase,” said Pitt. “We’re still practicing. But everything’s going well and I’m looking forward to the future. “When asked whether he would prefer a baby boy or girl, Brad said: “There’s no question about it – I love girls. I want little versions of Jennifer. That’s my dream.” Pitt added that he expected fatherhood to bring him life fulfillment: “I’ve reached a point in my life when I feel ready for this role. “The thought of bringing a small person into the world for whom you’re responsible sounds like fulfillment to me.” Surprisingly, Brad says he is well aware of his sell-by-date as a Hollywood hunk ?I’ve only got about four good years left,” said Pitt. “The next generation of actors is already getting ready to replace the old stars.” He can stay around as long he likes according to us!
More content than ever, DeppJohnny Depp wants 100 children
Johnny Depp says he’d have 100 children with Vanessa Paradis if she’d let him. He told OK! magazine: “You can’t plan the kind of deep love that results in children. ?Fatherhood was not a conscious decision but now I have become the perfect example of all the paternity cliches I laughed at for years. ?I look forward to having more children. ?I’d have a hundred if Vanessa were willing. “For me family is the most important thing in the world. It’s your foundation, your roots. It’s the only unconditional love you’ll ever get.” Depp adds that his happy family life helped him enjoy the making of Pirates of the Caribbean. He said: “I really had a ball every single day – it was just a gas! It’s probably the most centred and content I’ve been. “It actually started a little bit before that point because everything comes from home. I have a great relationship, my girl was three and a half and my little boy was just in the throes of the caveman period!”
Johnny won’t ruin Vanessa’s good name
Flat note Johnny DeppJohnny Depp says he would never ask his Vanessa Paradis to marry him as it would ruin her ‘perfect name’. He said he often thought about proposing to the mother of his two children, but the name issue had held him back. “It’s so perfect and so beautiful,” Johnny said. “It would be a drag to stick her with Paradis-Depp. It’s like a flat note.” But he said he would not hesitate if she was to propose to him: “She’s the woman of my life. I would do it in a second.” Oh what a guy – so talented and thoughtful too! And so old fashioned. Not every bride chooses to ditch her surname, Johnny.
She’ll always be J-LoLopez regrets calling herself J-Lo
Jennifer Lopez has ‘fessed up that she regrets giving herself the name J-Lo. She made the admission during an interview for the US show Inside the Actor’s Studio. The New York Post reports that Lopez was not shy about stating her favourite swear words (here’s a hint, it rhymes with bucking door) even though her mum was sitting in the front row. She referred to Guadalupe Lopez as “my mom, the millionaire” – a reference to her million dollar jackpot win on the dreaded poker machines at an Atlantic City casino earlier this month. When host James Lipton asked J-Lo: “If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive?” She replied: “‘Nice going, you did your best,” and “There are no paparazzi here.” Nice to see that is all she is worried about in heaven!
Glowing with love, Kate MossKate Moss’ secret love
Rumour has it Kate Moss has fallen in love with hunky British actor Daniel Craig. Kate, 30, and the Tomb Raider star have been dating for a month after meeting through mutual friends. Kate is said by pals to be “besotted” with Daniel, 35, who starred opposite Gwyneth Paltrow in last year’s movie Sylvia. And the multi-millionaire cover girl has told friends the romance is serious. “It was love at first sight for Kate,” said a pal last week. “Daniel is bright, charming and leads a very low-key life – just what Kate’s looking for at the moment.” The friend said: “It is serious, and they both know it. Kate doesn’t want anything to rock the boat. She is blown away by him.” The friend added: “Both he and Kate want to keep things low-key. “But the sexual chemistry between them is so potent that you’d be blind not to see it. Some things you just can’t keep quiet.” The pair met after Daniel, who has an 11-year old daughter from a brief marriage in his 20s, starred with Kate’s pal Rhys Ifans, 37, in the new film Enduring Love. The news is not good for Kate’s estranged partner Jefferson Hack, father of her toddler daughter Lila Grace. He still had hopes of reviving their four-year relationship. Magazine boss Hack, 31, moved out of their London home two weeks ago, but the couple reportedly remain “good mates”.
Daryl HannahPolice quiz Daryl Hannah over Kill Bill poses
Actress Daryl Hannah has been questioned by police after she struck kung fu poses at the LA premiere of Kill Bill: Vol 2. The actress, who reportedly gets nervous when meeting the press at glitzy events, decided to hide behind her assassin character Elle Driver. She told Teen Hollywood: “I usually just race into theatres at premieres. But this time I thought I would walk in like Elle with her cocky attitude and stuff. So I went through the press line and I was standing on my car and doing kung fu and giving them the finger or whatever. Then when I came out of the theatre, there were five policemen waiting for me, wanting me to take a breathalyser test.” Hannah said they talked to her for a minute or so before letting her go: “They said: ‘Well, you seem okay.’ They couldn’t seem to understand that I was just acting. It was weird.” Only in Hollywood!
