Makeup Mistakes You’re Making

Applying your makeup should be considered an art like no other – after years of trying to master a cat-eye flick, my eyes (unfortunately) never seem to match, let alone my technique.

Have you ever seen someone else apply their makeup and thought to yourself, have I been doing that wrong the entire time? Below is just a simple list of tips to make sure you’re left with a flawless application every single time… fingers crossed!

Blush

This is different depending on the shape of your face, but most women seem to apply way too much blush in the first place. If you just can’t seem to control your brush to blush ratio, use a cream product and blend it in with your fingers. The heat from your fingertips will gently push the product into the skin, making it look natural in no-time.

Concealer

Under-concealer if you want to be really specific. Many women want to hide their bags and veins by packing on concealer (which is usually too dark or too light) all around their eyes. Take a step back and follow these two steps to achieve a perfect finish.

1. Go and get your concealer matched in person. We all know it’s mighty tempting to buy products online, sure they’re probably cheaper and it’s like getting a present delivered to yourself (who doesn’t love that?), but in matters of makeup, it’s best to get yourself matched.

2. Apply the product with your fingers or a damp Beauty Blender. It might take a little longer, but a Beauty Blender or any other cosmetic sponge will make the concealer look flawless on your skin – without clinging onto any dry patches.

Highlighter

A highlighter should come with a little disclaimer: do not use on all areas of your face. Although even I have fallen victim to this makeup faux pas, there really is no reason to apply a highlighting shade all over your face. Unless of course you want to look like a disco ball?

Concentrate the product on the very top of your cheekbones, and brushing it outwards into your hairline. This will give you the most natural, and sun-kissed look (trust us). Use a powder or cream if you find it hard to stick to this golden rule – pun intended.

Lip liner

Who doesn’t want larger looking lips? There is a way to make your lips plump and juicy without the need for cosmetic surgery, and a lip liner will discretely contribute to this cause – if you have a light hand.

Please avoid over-drawing your lips; not only is this painfully noticeable but your lip liner also runs a risk of rubbing off after extended periods of wear. Carefully line the corners of your lips with a sharp pencil (and a steady hand), then apply a light contouring shade over the perimeters of your mouth.

Bronzer

Do we even need to mention the dramatic over-use of bronzer? Try and choose a shade which will give your natural complexion a subtle glow, and apply carefully with a contour brush to give cheekbones a bit of life.

Less is always more, and you can always build-up the level of bronzer, rather than being stuck with an overly contoured face. Remember to blend the product well into your jawline, perimeters of your forehead and well into the hairline for a sun-kissed glow! Blend, blend, blend, don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.

Celebrity Hairstyles: Pamela Anderson’s New Pixie Cut

Who’s the latest celebrity to chop off their hair? Pamela Anderson has ditched her signature bombshell blonde locks and opted for an ultra short pixie cut. We actually had to do a double take!

Anderson, 46, showed off her chic new short haircut in L.A. today – and we think she looks amazing!

Seems like the pixie haircut is one of Hollywood’s favourite celebrity hairstyles – with Charlize Theron, Michelle Williams and Anna Hathaway all sporting the feminine ‘do.

The Baywatch babe who now devotes her time to animal rights was accompanied by ex-husband  Rick Salomon. Two weeks ago Anderson admitted to Ellen DeGeneres that the pair have been spending more time together lately, including a holiday to France where they were spotted on a nudist beach.

“I say we’re best friends…with benefits,” she told the talk show host. “I don’t want to meet anyone else…I’m very happy. We’re happy. He’s a great guy.”

What do you think of Pamela Anderson’s new pixie haircut?

Elle offending Brits taste in Lingerie

Elle offending Brits taste in Lingerie

Back in business after a short respite in a US clinic, Elle Macpherson now appears to be suffering from a severe care of foot in mouth disease, with her recent comments about the Poms and their supposed lack of imagination in the lingerie department. Not a cunning marketing move, Elle, when you’re trying to launch your undies brand to the UK? The supermodel and mum told a NZ TV crew that she is responsible for getting the stuffy Poms into some more slinky undergarments “It has taken me some time to re-educate the English. They’re not known for their lingerie bravado. They are not really a country that has a reputation for changing their underwear very often.” Hopefully Elle is not considering a career in diplomatic relations anytime soon!

Wedding hint from Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow has been dropping hints all over the place that she wants to marry Coldplay lead singer, boyfriend Chris Martin. And fair enough, they have been dating for over a year now and if Hollywood years are like dog years that that must be like seven years for the rest of us mere mortals. Paltrow has hinted that she wants to marry Martin, but is waiting for him to propose to her. The Oscar-winner discussed her year-long relationship in an interview with celebrated talk show host Michael Parkinson recently. Asked whether she plans to marry, she replied: “I don’t know. I hope so.” Pressed on whether that would be to Chris Martin, the actress said: “I’m the wrong person to ask – ask him.” Keep waiting Gwynnie!

Pamela Anderson at Sunday School?

Now we have heard it all! Pamela Anderson,36, has let is slip that she’s now working as a Sunday school teacher. The one-time Playboy centrefold says her faith in God has helped her cope with bad times in her life. According to reports on the BBC’s The Hand Of God, she said: “I’m teaching at my sons’ Sunday school. It’s reading the Bible, getting out jelly beans and setting the kids a good example.” She added: “There have been bad times and good times and I have had religion to get me through. I think it’s important as I’ve always believed in God. It’s just I’ve joined a new church and my kids are at Sunday school.” Surprisingly, Anderson sees no contradiction between her sexy image and believing in God. “Maybe I’ve surprised people. When you are blonde, people have low expectations of you.” Couldn’t possibly be because you have a soft spot for bad boy tattooed rockers and over-sized breast implants, Pammy?
