4. Take another hair tie then thread your hair through half way. Simply pin back the extra strands with bobby pins, and create an even top knot with the rest of your hair.

Office Appropriate Hairstyles For Long Hair

Anyone with really long hair knows that styling it on a good day can often be a pain. Ponytails always slip out of place, buns never hold, and who has 30 minutes each morning to tame those locks in general?

If you need a few easy hairstyles for the office, try a few of our suggestions down below, and let us know if they work for you!

Low bun

Rather than spending half of the morning threading your hair through a sock bun, keep it simple and wear your hair down low. Spritz with a sea-salt spray to keep it nice and sleek, then gather the hair and tie into a bun on the nape of your neck. Use a few extra bobby pins to tame those stray hairs or shorter layers around the face.

Simple braid

Wear your hair down and create two little braids just above each ear. This should keep any stray hairs away from your face while you work, and won’t disrupt you during the day. Once you have braided each side, meet in the middle and fasten with a clear elastic for extra hold.

Inside-out ponytail

Keep your ponytail down low (in the middle of your head), since it won’t drop from this position after a hard day at work. Back-comb your hair, and fasten with a clear elastic. Then create a small hole just above the elastic, and thread through your ponytail. This creates a cute look which spices up your standard ponytail.

Fishtail braid

Keep your hair in place all day long by creating a quick and easy fishtail braid. Divide hair into two parts, and pull a thin piece of hair over the first section, and add this over to the second. Repeat this step on the other side, and secure with an elastic band. For a messier look, tug at the braid on both sides.

How To Style Bangs

Cutting your hair into bangs or a shorter fringe doesn’t have to change your entire look.

Not only does it give some character to straight, lifeless hair, but it creates lots of volume with minimal input. We share with you some of our favourite ways to style bangs or a shorter fringe for the new year.

Loose curls

Run through your bangs with a wide-tooth comb to untangle any knots, and keep hair silky smooth. For a natural body and bounce, avoid using too much conditioner on this part of your hair, and use a light volumising mousse on damp hair.

Curl the rest of your longer layers, and apply some dry shampoo to your scalp for extra lift! Applying a concentrated dose of sea-salt spray is also a great way to inject a little character into your bangs without using heat.

01

High ponytail

Not only is a high ponytail appropriate for any type of weather, it also looks great when paired with a full fringe! Section your hair, and secure your ponytail back with an elastic. Then use a round brush and blowdryer to create instant body on your bangs.

This is a flattering hairstyle for girls who have longer side bangs (just like Nicole Richie), and want to frame the outer dimensions of their face. Straighten any stray hairs and apply a generous coat of hairspray to keep everything in place.

02

Side bun

Shift your bangs over to one side just like Selena Gomez for a sophisticated evening look. Work with the rest of your hair to create a messy bun, and pin back any loose hairs around your face. Use a pair of straightening irons to direct hair onto one side of your face, and mist lightly with finishing spray for extra hold.

Milkmaid Braids Hair Tutorial

You don’t need to be a hairdresser or experienced YouTuber to create a killer hairstyle, and this week we’re focusing on milkmaid braids. This easy to achieve hairstyle takes just minutes (depending on the thickness and length of your hair), and creates an elegant up-do using just hairspray and bobby pins.

What you will need:

Comb

Hairspray

Bobby pins (and a lot of them)

Instructions

1. Comb through your hair to ensure that there aren’t any knots or tangles. Start from top to bottom, slowly making your way down the length of your hair. For wavy hair, straighten your hair slightly with a straightening iron to ensure that your hair is easier to work with.

2. Divide your hair into two sections, and start braiding your hair in the back (at the nape of your neck). Braid all the way down, then secure with an elastic band. Repeat the same step on the other side.

3. Now flip one braid onto the opposite side of your head, and tuck behind your ear. Pin it down securely. Do the same with the other side, making sure to have the braids completely cross over.

4. If you have stray pieces of hair at the front of your face, feel free to curl these with your hands or a curling wand for an extra bohemian look.
