Spring’s Hottest Trend: Lace-Up

Are you as excited about spring in Australia as I am? Finally we can turn off our heaters and put away those big, bulky jackets. In fact, wearing lighter clothes is one of the things I love most about spring; it feels like a huge weight lifted off your shoulder – pun intended.

With every new season comes new trends in fashion. The 70s are still the decade to channel; think flared pants, flowy blouses and lots of suede. The main trend for spring, though, is anything lace-up.

First seen on the Chloé runway, lace-up sandals, gladiators and clothes have found their way into high street fashion labels’ collections. So get inspired by the following finds of spring’s hottest fashion trend, lace-up.

Chloe lace up sandals

This is where it all started: The original Chloé lace-up sandals are every fashionista’s dream this season. They’re extremely versatile and thanks to a low heel, comfortable, too! With a hefty price tag of $1890, they’re going to remain a dream for me. Thankfully, a lot of cheaper brands have picked up on the trend.

How To Style Lace-Up Sandals

Want to incorporate the hottest footwear trend into your wardrobe without going over your credit limit? Lace-up sandals are a versatile choice of footwear since they are often very affordable, and can be used to dress an outfit up or down. Below are just a few simple ways to style your new lace-up shoes.

Minimalist dress

If you want to channel some simple Swedish fashion-blogger vibes, then wear your favourite lace-up sandals with a classic dress. Make sure the fit of the shoes is comfortable and generally avoid buying online if you’re unsure of your sizing. Finish off with a chic satchel bag to carry all of your bits and bobs.

Not the kind of suit you’re thinking about! One of the hottest trends this season is coordinates – which usually consists of a matching blazer and shorts/skirt combination. Choose a pair of black, white, or neutral coloured sandals which won’t overpower the rest of the look.

For the ultimate casual look, wear your favourite pair of distressed denim jeans with a cute pair of lace-up flats. Soft pastel colours work best with darker skin tones, and monochrome colours are perfect if you have fair skin.

Midi skirt

For a subtle hint of sophistication, pair your lace-up sandals with a form-fitting midi skirt. This is a classic look which is appropriate for the office, drinks or even a formal dinner. Just throw on a structured blazer and a textured clutch to complete the overall look.
