Sarah Jessica Parker’s Shiny Hair Tutorial

Sarah Jessica Parker is known for her big blonde curls, but since the end of Sex and The City she’s been sporting a sleek, straight hairstyle. To achieve her shiny highlighted hair, it’s important to use a moisturising serum every time you wash your hair and follow it up with a weekly hydrating mask to seal those split ends.

Instructions

1. Treat your hair to a weekly hydrating mask, which is essential for locking in moisturise and is ideal for all hair types. Work the product into your hair from root to tip, then let it sit for 30-60 minutes before washing out with shampoo and lukewarm water.

Throwback Thursday: Golden Globes 2004

January 27, 2004

Everyone knows that award shows aren’t just about the winners. Self-respecting, hard-working fashion victims around the globe sit glued to awards shows for hours, critiquing the outfits, the accessories, the boyfriends, the make up and the speeches. Come on, fess up. You do it, we all do it. Now, let’s compare notes…

Former royalty A-lister, Sarah Ferguson quite frankly should have stayed home! Her Cleopatra eye makeup was more Mardi Gras than Golden Globe… Someone who has all the right moves, however, is South African farm girl turned superstar Charlize Theron who made a fabulous entrance in Christian Dior. Gorgeous, charming and a winner through and through, taking home the best Actress award.

Blondes have more fun? Not so for Sarah Jessica Parker and that haute coute dress made especially for her by Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel looked stunning! Also looking like a million bucks was Jennifer Aniston, minus her most famous handbag, hubby Brad Pitt. Mrs Pitt also presented an award on the night, and it looked like she came dangerously close to popping out of her sexy dress with its super plunging neckline!

One of the spunkiest men on earth, Johnny Depp looked positively sexy in his old-style gangster get up, accompanied by his stunning wifey Vanessa Paradis. Sex in the City veteran Kim Cattrell looked just peachy with an up hair do, and a silky frock, that was ten times as classy as her alter ego Samantha has even been. Vintage Valentino will do that to a girl, darling.

Will and Grace star Debra Messing was positively glowing in a fab frock with loads of cleavage! Not a hint of frumpy maternity wear here! And that other fabulous-when-pregnant star Catherine Zeta Jones, self-appointed princess of Hollywood, rubbed everyone’s noses in it – talk about smug married! Queer Eye fav Carson got into the spring of things, sporting a pink jacket – how appropriate. Notably absent from the red carpet was another fiery raven-haired beauty, Penelope Cruz.

Current beau Tom Cruise was nominated for best actor, the award being presented by ex-wife Nicole Kidman. Now, that could have been one awkward moment. But luckily, for our Nic, neither Tom, nor good friends Russell Crowe and Jude Law took the title. Nic was a fashion star on the night with a stunning frock featuring a gold sequin bodice, plunging neckline and romantic flowing, chiffon skirt, courtesy of Yves Saint Laurent. Critics the world over have been commenting on our Nic’s style on this night of nights. To us, she can never put a foot wrong.

Remembering Oscar de la Renta

Fashion legend Oscar de la Renta has passed away at the age of 82. The designer was diagnosed with cancer in 2006 and passed away earlier today.

The Dominican designer crafted couture for every woman in the upper crust, from Jacqueline Kennedy and Princess Diana, to Sarah Jessica Parker and Taylor Swift. Most recently, he designed Amal Clooney’s wedding gown in which she famously wed actor George Clooney in September.

The 2014 Met Ball: What This Year Will Bring

The Met Ball, an event not to be missed by anyone who is anyone in fashion will be held this Monday the 5th of May. Attendees will be more sophisticated than ever, strictly dressed in the theme ‘White Tie and Decorations’ in honour of British designer Charles James. Guests will look like royalty to climb the 72 steps in heavy couture to impress the queen of fashion herself Anna Wintour. Expect to see vintage, vintage and more vintage.

Dress code

The red carpet will be filled with ball gowns, gloves, satin and a whole lot of diamonds, get ready to be jealous ladies! We’re talking high society, designers like Oscar de la renta, Dior, Balenciaga, Givenchy and Valentino.

I bet you’re wondering what eye candy to look out for too…don’t worry you won’t be disappointed. The men will look like the Prince of your dreams, with top hats, white waistcoats, gloves, cuff links, bow ties, and tail coats.

Who will be there?

Unfortunately beloved Gwenyth Paltrow declined her invitation this year, not really unexpected when she spoke out about how unimpressed she was with 2013’s event.

But not to worry…

Bradley Cooper will be along side Sarah Jessica Parker as cochair’s.

The Met Ball just wouldn’t be the same without SJP, she is the one to look out for on the red carpet. Each year we see her embracing each theme to the maximum, lets not forget that punk rockin gold and black headpiece.

Just to keep things interesting, Kanye West will also be attending and you never know what will happen when he graces these events with his presence. There’s no doubt Kim Kardashian will be right beside West, but let’s hope she makes a come back from last year’s get up. The skin-tight, busily printed dress caused her to be compared to a blimp and sofa.

Then there is the most anticipated attendee…First Lady Michelle Obama. Who, the morning of the gala is to cut the ribbon to the Anna Wintour Costume Center, previously the Costume Institute.

It seems the 2014 Met Ball will be an eventful night, make sure you check back in with SheSaid next week for the recap!

Sarah Jessica Parker’s Happy Marriage Secrets

Sarah Jessica Parker says the secret to a happy marriage is very simple – just don’t talk about it.

She and Matthew Broderick, 51, have been married for 16 years and have three children – James Wilkie, 11, and twin daughters Tabitha and Loretta, four.

“The secret is, we don’t discuss it. To reporters or anybody else. That’s it!” Parker, 48, told The Huffington Post. “We don’t hold it up as an example and we don’t air our dirty laundry.”

Her relationship advice about staying away from celebrity gossip comes at the start of a busy year for Parker, who just launched a Hallmark greeting card collection, will soon debut her first shoe line, and will appear on stage with Blythe Danner in fellow actress Amanda Peet’s off-Broadway play The Commons of Pensacola.

Parker also raved about her children and how creative they are.

“My daughters write thank you notes, and they’re just learning to read and be able to spell.

“They’re all preternaturally gifted artists — they probably spend 80 percent of their free time drawing. Every morning before breakfast, we have to drag them away from drawing and painting, even my son. They’re far more gifted than I ever was.”

Sarah Jessica Parker’s Fitness And Beauty Secrets

Sarah Jessica Parker has spilled the beans on her favourite beauty products and how she maintains that enviably fit body.

In an interview with the UK’s Daily Express, the actress says her best beauty tip is to “use any cream that says “elimination” in big bold letters on the jar! I swear by Garnier Ultra Lift cream. It targets wrinkles and dryness as well as being really inexpensive.”

And how does she keep that amazing mane tame?

“I like washing my hair with Bumble and Bumble’s Sunday Shampoo. It’s about the only shampoo that gives my hair that squeaky clean feeling that I had as a child. To condition, I use Kerastase Oleo-Relax Masque which isn’t cheap, but it really works on my dry, over-styled hair.”

The mother-of-three has taken a break from acting, and says being a mum is one of the best ways to maintain her killer figure – although like most women she’s feeling the effects of metabolism and age.

“I don’t think I’m in that great shape these days. I have to workout a lot harder. The body just doesn’t snap back in the way it used to when I was in my twenties!

“I try to do yoga three times a week, and my twin daughters act like arm weights.”

And it may come as a surprise that the Sex and the City star is not as into fashion as we thought!

“I never dress up that much,” she admits. “These days, I’m lucky if I go out to a friend’s house. Most of my day is spent as a mother, which requires an entirely different wardrobe.”

“Although I appreciate beautiful clothes,” she said. “I’m not into fashion as people expect me to be.”

The chilling shower scene
Psycho voted best movie death
A critics? poll in Total Film magazine has voted the best movie death of all time. The winner? Think the petrifying vulnerability of Janet Leigh?s shower death scene in the Alfred Hitchcock 1960?s thriller Psycho. “Knowing that the blood is Bosco’s chocolate syrup and that a pulped casaba melon stood in for the stabbing noises does nothing to reduce the impact,” notes Total Film deputy editor Simon Crook. The runners-up: Slim Pickens riding an atomic bomb in Stanley Kubrick‘s 1964 comedy Dr. Strangelove Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb comes in at No. 2; the big ape’s fatal plunge to earth in the 1933 actioner King Kong comes in third place; terrorist Hans Gruber‘s fall from a 30-story building in the 1988 thiller Die Hard places fourth; and the killing of the two ruthless bank robbers in the 1967 crime drama Bonnie and Clyde rounds out the top five.
Check out the SheSaid Entertainment Guide for more movie, DVD, book and gig reviews.

Sarah Jessica Parker, happy in marriage
Sarah Jessica Parker?s marital secrets
Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker told CBS 60 Minutes II the secret to her long lasting marriage. She has been married to Matthew Broderick since 1997 and the pair have an 18-month-old son. Apparently servitude is her way to hubby happiness. ?I take care of him,” she says, “I pack for him, I shop for him, I get his groceries. He’s taken care of. That’s who Matthew is – people take care of him. It’s practically involuntary.” But given the choice, this isn?t the thing she?d change about her husband. What really annoys SJP is his gait. Apparently he walks too slowly. ?I walk really quickly. He never hails the cab. Never. I’ve been doing it forever, so I guess he just thinks, ‘Well, she does it so well.’? And she does it in heels too!

Bad Boy Beckham

The not-so-golden couple Becks and Posh
In news just in, golden boy David Beckham is in hot water over an alleged affair with a former personal assistant. Tabloid newspapers around the globe have picked up the story that suggests that the England captain and Rebecca Loos carried on an affair in Madrid between September and December while his pop star wife, Victoria, was in England. The Sun (UK) newspaper estimated the couple had spent only 54 of the past 224 days together, with Victoria based in the UK in an attempt to relaunch her floundering pop career. As more details of the reported indiscretion surface, including teary admissions by Rebecca Loos and her family, media pundits are speculating on the impact of this event on Beckham?s marketability and reputation. “He’s a huge star, this won’t diminish his popularity,” Celebrity publicist Max Clifford says “In some ways, people would argue, it would increase it.”

Both lists are complied by 500 celebrities, designers and style aficionados.

SJP – Definitely a fashionista
Sarah Jessica Parker gets kudos for fashion sense

The council choose the star of Sex and the City for her “personal and professional commitment to fashion, and for her quintessentially New York style.” Carolina Herrera, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors and Ralph Rucci are nominated for the women?s wear designer of the year award and nominees for men?s wear designer of the year are Kors, Sean Combs and Ralph Lauren. Home birth for Gwynnie

Home birth for Gwynnie

Mum-to-be Gwyneth Paltrow
Rumour has it, mum-to-be Gwyneth Paltrow has installed a birthing pool at her home in London. No news as to what new husband Coldplay frontman Chris Martin thinks of all this…

Sarah Jessica Parker – the write stuff
Sarah Jessica Parker: Author
What’s next for stylish actor Sarah Jessica Parker after Sex And The City? Would you believe, writing? The 38-year-old has apparently got a novel waiting in the wings. “I’ve written about half of it already and I’m looking for a publisher who will take it. The basic story is about an over-the-hill TV actress who gets a shot at a comeback, but lies about everything from her age to her acting credentials. Then, one by one, they all come out.” And sexy Sarah has even bigger plans, she adds, “I would like to write full-time, but who knows what the future holds? It would be fun to turn this book into a movie, too.” Perhaps her onscreen career as journalist Carrie Bradshaw has given her the inspiration to pick up the pen?

Where for art thou Viggo
More Viggo for your viewing pleasure
If you drooled over Viggo Mortensen in the Lord of the Rings trilogy then his new movie Hildago will be a must see for you. At the LA premiere of the film, the super spunky star proved that he can indeed ride a horse, when he braved lashing rain to make a dramatic entrance on horseback at the launch. There were a crowd of fans (not surprisingly mostly women) who had gathered to catch a glimpse of their hero were stunned when he arrived atop his mighty steed. “He was nice enough to invite me tonight,” said Viggo of his equine co-star. “I’m his date for the evening.” If the story line, rather than ogling at Viggo interests you, we can tell you the film is about a cowboy (played by Viggo) who journeys to the Middle East to compete in a dangerous race. He is accompanied, of course, by his horse Hidalgo, who is the underdog in a race dominated by powerful Arabian horses. Incidentally, Viggo was so enamoured with TJ, the horse he rode during the film, that he bought it as soon as filming had finished and had it shipped home! Gorgeous, talented and a sensitive and sentimental lover of animals. Swoon!

Guess who?
* Which former supermodel’s marriage is on the rocks due to her husband’s “constant philandering”?
* Which young actor was reportedly ‘wasted’ in a bar before the Oscars ceremony last month?
* Which ageing rocker is in debt nearly $1,000,000 in outstanding mortgage repayments for his swish beachside pad in Malibu?
