Enjoy Life’s Little Luxuries With Alpha-H

As busy working women and/or mums-on-the-go, it can be so easy to fall into bad habits like neglecting your self-care. This is why a beautiful, hand-made soy, scent candle, or a luxurious hand crème, for example, can make such a difference to your day. Both offer quick and easy relaxation and enjoyment.

Enter Queensland-based unisex cosmeceutical brand Alpha-H, which has achieved both local and national success over the last 20 years by providing heavenly skincare and body products which also aim to offer long-term solutions for problem skin.

A family-run business, Alpha-H’s owner/director Michelle Doherty created the products out of a real need to change her own skin after suffering chronic cystic acne in her teenage years and throughout her 20s.

Disappointed by over-the-counter cosmetics and appalled by the disinterest and lack of empathy from medical professionals, Michelle was introduced to Alpha-H when the brand was in its infancy. Within days of using the range, she saw immediate and sustained visible improvements; not just in her skin, but in her confidence and self-esteem.

Now, Michelle travels the globe meeting men and women with their own skin concerns and problems, thus inspiring her to constantly develop new products which can help bring sustainable solutions to others.

Available in Australia at Lulu and Lipstick, via, plus in a myriad of other countries, Alpha-H prides itself on its concentrated and balanced performance ingredients. Its range of glycolic-based skincare has everything from cleansers and exfoliants to vitamin serums and speciality solutions for all skin types.

I trialled Alpha-H’s Luxe Limited Edition Kit, $99, (pictured) over the summer holidays, and absolutely loved it. It added much joy and relaxation to my life.

The kit is a combination of Alpha-H’s most decadent products including my favourites: the ultra-luxurious Age Delay Hand and Cuticle Cream (pictured) and the sublime Scented Soy Candle in Delicate Fig and Cedarwood (pictured). The candle smells glorious and I still light it every night before bed for its soothing and calming properties. In addition, the lovely hand creme really calms my problem dermatitis.

Britney Smells

Britney Smells

Britney fresh
Major cosmetics house Elizabeth Arden is set to create a signature fragrance for pop star Britney Spears! This is the first step for Britney in realising another lifelong dream, to have her own range of skincare and cosmetics. Could be a somewhat risky move for Arden, who are famous for their more sophisticated scents and mature tastes. The company also created a best-selling signature fragrance brand for another infamous diva, Elizabeth Taylor. Our advice, don’t name the fragrance after your latest single, Toxic.

Once more with feeling?
Lisa Marie feels nothing for Jacko
Lisa-Marie Presley has spilled the beans on her short-lived marriage to Michael Jackson! Appearing on Andrew Denton‘s Enough Rope programme on the ABC, Presley revealed she felt powerless in the relationship and soon realised that she was just “part of a machine.” Asked how she felt about Jackson now, Presley replied: “It’s really bizarre, I feel nothing.” A bizarre end to a bizarre relationship…

“No more fur,” says Liza
Fur fury for Liza Minnelli
And speaking of bizarre, Liza Minnelli has revealed that her taut-faced former husband David Gest made her wear real fur coats against her will! The New York Post reported that while the star prefers to fake it, she wore real fur at the insistence of her estranged husband. Minnelli offended animal rights group PETA, whom she has allegedly been a supporter of for the past 10 years. When asked to explain her change of heart, she replied “It was David. I prefer fake, but he insisted I put on the real thing. He was horrible. I’ll only ever wear fake from now on.”

Poor Andre
Empty seats for Andre
Pint-sized ex-pat Peter Andre is having a hard time kick-starting his pop career back in the UK. His 19-date Mysterious tour is not selling well, with one venue revealing it had only sold 17 tickets to the event in the first two weeks. A source told UK paper The Sunday Mirror that “Peter’s a bit upset by it all. He’s been really upbeat about his pop career.” Spin-doctors for Andre have replied to the criticism admitting that some venues may not sell all available tickets, adding “We’re really pleased with ticket sales.”
