Jeremy Scott

“Plastic is fantastic,” was the summation of Scott’s SS16 collection. Taking us on a journey back through time, the 60s and the 80s were prominent themes among this year’s designs with plastic, shiny jewellery and dresses, cartoon patterns, and pop art.

Diane von Fursten

Embroidery, clashing prints, metallics and relaxed tailoring took centre stage at Diane von Fursten’s SS16 show. Drawing inspiration from Fortuna, the goddess of luck, the models donned Grecian gowns, silks and plunging necklines. Interestingly, fuchsia pink stole the spotlight, establishing itself as a base colour for quite a few of Fursten’s designs.

Tommy Hilfiger

Did someone say, Bob Marley? At this years Tommy Hilfiger show it was all about the island vibes with crocheted dresses, string bikinis and flora prints. Maxi dresses look set to make a comeback, as does the patchwork print, with Hilfiger combining the two – as can be seen on Gigi Hadid below.

Vera Wang

Vera Wang proved that orange is definitely not the new black with her SS16 collection. Keeping colour to a minimum, Wang worked an oversized boyfriend feel into her collection, debuting an assortment of large jackets and tanks, loose trousers, short shifts and cut-out pieces.

How To Style A Statement Playsuit

Since we are in the middle of a hot summer, it’s almost impossible to wear a stylish outfit which won’t make you sweat.

Playsuits are an effortless summer alternative which require little or no accessories to look and feel good! We show you how to style a few of our favourites for this summer, and just where to get them.

Sandals

Any type of flat sandals look amazing when paired with an easy, summer playsuit. Make sure the sandals are quite simple if your playsuit is the main focus of the entire outfit. Some favourites include t-bar sandals, gladiators, basic one-strap sandals as well.

Denim jacket

If you’re heading to a casual night-time event, bring along a denim jacket in case the weather drops. Throw it over your shoulders, or wear it around your waist to add some texture to the outfit. Classic blue is always on trend, but you can always get your hands on some acid-wash if you’re channeling that 80’s look.

Clutch

An envelope clutch is a summer essential for storing all of your necessities on a day or night out. Choose from a variety of different colours and fabrics to best match your outfit. A detachable strap is a great option to use if you want to carry your bag in a few different ways.

Fedora

Heading out to a festival is not complete without a wide-brim fedora hat. Not only will it protect your face, neck, shoulders, but it also is completely on trend this season!

Belt

If your playsuit is a bit too big for your frame, cinch it at the waist with a leather belt. This will give your look some structure, and sculpt your waist without feeling too uncomfortable either. Choose black, grey, and brown belts since they match almost anything, and can be worn with many different outfits.

5

Kimono

A kimono adds the finishing touches to an outfit which is inspired by the boho-chic trends of the 1970s. It won’t have you feeling too hot or cold, and can be stored in your bag at the end of the evening.

Top 5 Trends That Have Us Excited For Summer

Who doesn’t love the idea of summer? Days get longer, nights are warmer and the sun is almost always out to play. But a change of season also means a new wardrobe revamp, with some of the hottest trends making their ways to our shores. We share with you our top five trends for summer, which you can quickly stock-up on!

Peasant tops

An off the shoulder peasant top is the epitome of summer-chic, especially when paired with denim cut-offs and beach waves. The nineties are calling once again, with stores already stocking a variety of designs (some which are cropped), to complete your summer wardrobe.

We recommend: Tularosa Huxley Top, $148.30

Slip dresses

An easy way to channel the minimalist aesthetic is by wearing a slip dress. Wear with flat sandals to beat the heat during the day, or simply match with a pair of strappy stilettos for an evening out. A bold lip is a great way to spice up this look without going overboard.

We recommend: River Island Midi Cami Dress, $69.18

V-neck knits

Channel sport-luxe vibes by wearing a chunky v-neck sweater when the weather slightly drops. Not only will the white knit highlight a great summer tan, but it can make any outfit look laid-back and casual.

We recommend: Uniqlo Cashmere V Neck Sweater, $79.90

Pearl chokers

Looking for a statement accessory which matches every single outfit in your wardrobe? Pearls are back and in a big way – pair your outfit with a pearl choker which is both statement and minimalist at the same time. Brings a touch of sophistication to a trendy outfit.

We recommend: Topshop Plain Ball Open Collar, $16

Full skirts

Taking inspiration from the 1950’s, embrace a full midi skirt which cuts off below the knee but above the ankle. These skirts are amazing for girls looking to hide their problem areas such as a tummy or thighs, without looking too covered up. Pair with a crop top and a statement clutch for instant glam.

We recommend: Sportsgirl Lady Skirt, $89.95
