The Internet Is Freaking Out Over Donald Trump Touching His Daughter’s Butt
Another day, another Trump #facepalm.
The Republican National Convention gave us plenty of entertaining conversational fodder, including a naked protest and what appeared to be a plagarized speech by Trump’s wife, Melania Trump, not to mention arguably the most controversial presidential hopeful in US history, Donald Trump, nabbing the official GOP nomination.
But for the last few days, all anyone’s been able to talk about is *that* hug between Trump and his daughter Ivanka, who had a painfully awkward/creepy on-stage embrace during the convention.
After the presidential candidate’s daughter gave an emphatic speech in support of her father, Trump proceeded to…er…hug? her. At least, it appeared he was going in for a hug, and then instead went for putting his hand on his daughter’s backside in potentially one of the most non-approps physical interactions in RNC history.

And, understandably, the internet had plenty to say about it…
Don’t worry @IvankaTrump, if my dad touched my butt in public I wouldn’t want to associate with him either

EWW just saw video of Trump greeting his daughter Ivanka &he slid his hands down to her hips! My father’s NEVER done that in a hug #RNCinCLE

Ivanka is selling the dress she wore to the RNC so I’m selling the spit take I did when her dad touched her butt.

“That was not even a real hug. He held both her arms, cupping his hands around her forearms to keep her at a certain distance from him. She also didn’t go in close,” body language expert Patti Wood told US Weekly in reference to the now infamous awkward encounter.
“There was no heart-to-heart contact. There was no pelvis-to-pelvis contact. That was really odd. There was no real warmth.”
According to Wood, the weird father daughter moment says a lot about Trump’s attitude toward his daughter, and women in general.
“[That was to show] ownership, like, ‘She’s mine, I can do what I want with her.’ [It was] very distinctive and different from that extra pat we would give to somebody because we just love them so much and we want to just give them that little bit of affection given after a warm embrace or a tender kiss,” she tells Us. “They just pecked each other.”
Yeah, I don’t have anything else to say here, except that I hope I can erase this from my mind soon.
