70’S BOHO AND GLAM
This trend is inspired by the Studio 54’s heyday look with a bohemian edge featuring shades of orange, red and brown. High waisted wide-leg pants or flares smartly belted in, neat pussy-bow blouses with billowing or bishop sleeves in fabrics like silk and satin, roll neck sweaters tucked into pants or skirts, floppy hats, platform heels, big sunglasses and satchel bags are essential in the success of this look. To complete this trend, jewellery should be stacked high, hair should be worn loose and wavy and makeup kept simple.
Try: Wide Leg Pants from Kardashian Kollection Resort 2012 in red/camel $85.96 available now at sears.com.
Fetish meets fashion this season offering a look that is edgy, fierce and sophisticated. Think dark, sleek leather, PVC, control underwear worn as outwear and lace and sheer fabrics all teamed with ultra bold statement accessories. This trend is all about a stylish daring fashion forward feel. A black leather tunic worn with a pair of black leggings, or a pair of leather skinny trousers and a plain black t-shirt teamed with metal cuff bangles are two of the simplest ways to achieve this look. For a feminine interpretation of this trend try a black pencil skirt and sheer blouse combo paired with sheer black or lace stockings and a sky-high statement black pump. Incorporate leather knee-high boots that feature multi straps and buckles or a peaked military cap with all an all black ensemble for subtle take on this trend.
Try: La Vintage Bodysuit by Dr Rey Shapewear as an outer garment $49.99 available from Target.
With the farewell to warmer weather wardrobes should also depart from colour blocking and make way for the latest trend – prints. From tiny polka dots, digital and jungle prints to girly paisley and bold flowers, this trend will not only feature heavily across this season but will carry through into Spring/Summer. Embellishment and texture will also combine with print, along with clashing prints, a mini-trend within the print trend. For an easy take on this style, pair a patterned bag with a colourful dress, or for those more daring layer a printed scarf over a printed dress. For another way to dip your toe into this trend, team chinos or cropped trousers with a printed shirt and finish your look with wedges or brogues for elegant daytime chic.
Try: Snakeskin Crepe Blouse from WOMAN by Peter Morrissey $39.92 available at selected Big W stores.
