“Friends come and go, like the waves of an ocean, but a true ones stays, like an octopus on your face.” – unknown
Yesterday was National Best Friends Day, so to celebrate all things friendship we’re bringing you some of the ultimate celebrity BFFs. From bromances, to reported romances, here are 7 of our favourite couples that aren’t couples!
Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore
Contrary to popular belief, Diaz and Barrymore met long before they stared in the 2000 hit film Charlies Angels. Apparently the girls used bump into each other at their local coffee shop when Cameron was just starting out in the acting business. Spotted attending each others weddings, Drew has been quoted saying: “We just spend so much time having fun and laughing together. That’s what true friendship is about.”
Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox
Since meeting on the set of ’90s hit sitcom Friends, these BFFs have been inseparable. Supporting each other through rather messy divorces, Aniston has admitted: “I’ve slept in her guest bedroom a lot… Without giving away too much of my private stuff, all I can say is she’s been there for me through thick and thin.”
Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift
From relationship break-ups to make-ups, this friendship has weathered it all. Meeting when both ladies were dating the Jonas brothers, Selena told the Mirror UK: “She was so great to me. Then we became best friends. She would fly out to see me when I was going through something really hard.” Aww!
Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds
Sharing remarkable chemistry on the set of The Proposal in 2009, rumours went into overdrive that the pair were in fact an item off-screen. Turns out that Bullock and Reynolds were just really great friends after meeting nearly a decade ago, however.
Minka Kelly and Mandy Moore
These ridiculously adorable besties have been reportedly kickin’ it since 2007. From BFF shopping trips, to wearing matching outfits and attending red carpet events together, Minka and Mandy are inseparable.
Amy Poehler and Tina Fey
They say those who play together stay together. This hilarious duo were colleagues on Saturday Night Live for years, before going on to host a number of award shows together. Surprisingly, these BFFs actually met way back when while studying improv in the ’90s.
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon
This is a bromance that we’re throwing way back and had to include for obvious reasons, of course! Growing up together as kids, Affleck and Damon also rose to fame together after writing and starring in the 1997 Oscar-winning drama, Good Will Hunting.
