Winona Ryder Remembers Mel Gibson’s Anti-Semitic, Anti-Gay Rant

I’ll always have a soft spot for Winona Ryder (bizarre shoplifting incident aside…) and am so glad she’s back after appearing in the stunning film Black Swan. Wait till you see her haunting performance….

She’s graced the cover of the latest issue of GQ and looks amazing – while also giving a very revealing interview. In it she recounts a disgusting run-in with Mel Gibson that took place 15 years ago, when he was still at the top of his game.

“I was at one of those big Hollywood parties. And he was really drunk,” she recalls to the magazine. “I was with my friend, who’s gay. He made a really horrible gay joke. And somehow it came up that I was Jewish. He said something about ‘oven dodgers,’ but I didn’t get it.

“I’d never heard that before,” Ryder continues. “It was just this weird, weird moment. I was like, ‘He’s anti-Semitic and he’s homophobic.’ No one believed me!”

We haven’t heard much from Mel Gibson lately, after a year of ugly revelations of domestic abuse, murder threats, racist rants and drunken behaviour involving his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva and their baby daughter. Let’s hope he gets some serious help in 2011.
