Relieve Bad Cramps In 5 Steps
Do you suffer from bad cramps all because of that time of the month? Many women experience cramping which makes it difficult to work, exercise and take care of the kids. Although this is only a temporary pain, it shouldn’t have to be! Below are just a few ways to relieve your body of bad cramps, and resume everyday tasks.
Ever have a combination of back pain and cramping? These pains can be relieved by using a heating pad which will soothe any sore spots in the body. Most heating pads are filled with lavender and essential oils to ease away all aches and pains. Simply pop into the microwave for no longer than one minute, then apply to sore areas for up to 20 minutes at a time. Wait until the heating pad is back to room temperature before re-heating.
While many women detest the idea of taking a bath during this time of the month, the water will actually soothe any aches and pains you’re experiencing. Fill the bath with warm water, then drop in a handful or aromatic bath salts. Himalayan salts help to cleanse, detoxify and rejuvenate the appearance of skin, while offering an immensely relaxing break for your body during a tough day.
Did you know that certain yoga poses are specifically designed to relieve the body of nasty cramps? Dysmenorrhea is best described as the sharp, throbbing located in the low abdomen and lower back area. Try some of these yoga poses to curb bad cramps fast:
Half Bound Squat
- Stand with your feet at hip-length apart and start by bending the knees and lowering your hips down to the floor.
- Push your elbows against your knees – your body should be in a squat position.
- Lengthen the torso and hold this position for five breaths.
- Start off by sitting on the floor, bend your right knee while extending the left behind you.
- Put your hands on your hips and start by arching your back, then place your hands in front of you (flat on the floor).
- Hold for five breaths before repeating on the other leg.
Daily supplements of vitamin E have shown to significantly reduce the amount of pain caused by menstrual cramping. If you can’t get your hands on some supplements, eat foods such as almonds, spinach, and kale which will reduce the severity of cramps.
Now we’re not suggesting you run marathon or take a CrossFit class! Some light exercise throughout the day will help to reduce pain and discomfort. Go for a short walk around the park, or jog for up to 20-30 minutes.
