Yes, This Really Happened: Anne Hathaway Issues Apology For Her Oscars Dress
It doesn’t get more celebrity than this: Anne Hathaway has issued an apology for her dress choice at the Oscars.
The Best Supporting Actress winner chose a pale pink Prada gown (which has its share of fans and haters) but it wasn’t her first choice – and for that reason, she felt she needed to clear the air. Hmm…
As it turns out, Hathaway, 30, a long-time friend of Valentino, had chosen one of his gowns, but at the last minute went for the Prada.
“It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans,” she told PEOPLE in an exclusive statement.
“Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself.”
And this is the best bit: “I deeply regret any disappointment caused.”
Sure, designers get great PR from which celebrities wear their designs during awards season, but isn’t this just a bit OTT? You’ve got to love Hollywood…
